Discussion
My head is spinning. Can anyone recommend a characterful Pub within about 30-45 mins drive of Beverley. A nice drive to it would also be a bonus. It needs to do good food as I will be driving so not drinking.
Need to know before 0930 tomorrow so any help anyone can give I'll be eternally grateful

The Windmill on the A1079, on the RHS about a mile before you hit the Grimston Bar Roundabout as you approach York. The food is excellent.
I can vouch for that. Also the Ganton Greyhound on the A64 west of Scarborough, from Beverley to Driffield is a bit dull (although the cherry burton road is a laugh) but then you get onto the Driffield to Scarborough road and all is good. There are some wide open curves and some more exciting twisties. The Greyhound is very good for food and has an excellent reputation.
A nice whizz across the Beverley Westwood for good country pub grub at the Ferguson & Fawsitt Arms, in Walkington? Would be my choice...

Bit late.
Chequers Inn, South Elmsall. No food but it's next to a good Kebab shop!!! Beers £2.00 a pint. Happy hour 8-10.
You wouldn't really want to eat anything that came out of the kitcken at the minute (you probably wouldn't be fast enough to catch it anyway)
Games room has no games but it's big enough for a stonking Scalextric layout!

Blue Bell Weaverthorpe.
Fantastic food, Car park full of Astons, Rangies,Disco's etc.
We don't go out much, so the food there to us was fabo. Soup starter actually came inside the loaf of bread........How cool is that
Not cheap, but bloody good.
There's only two pubs in Weaverthorpe ( on main street) so easy to find, but a t
t to get home from in the dark, especially if decide to go home a different way...
Damn................just seen the time thingy.D'oh.
