My head is spinning. Can anyone recommend a characterful Pub within about 30-45 mins drive of Beverley. A nice drive to it would also be a bonus. It needs to do good food as I will be driving so not drinking.

Need to know before 0930 tomorrow so any help anyone can give I'll be eternally grateful thumbup

The Windmill on the A1079, on the RHS about a mile before you hit the Grimston Bar Roundabout as you approach York. The food is excellent.

I can vouch for that.

Also the Ganton Greyhound on the A64 west of Scarborough, from Beverley to Driffield is a bit dull (although the cherry burton road is a laugh) but then you get onto the Driffield to Scarborough road and all is good. There are some wide open curves and some more exciting twisties. The Greyhound is very good for food and has an excellent reputation.

A nice whizz across the Beverley Westwood for good country pub grub at the Ferguson & Fawsitt Arms, in Walkington? Would be my choice...

Nicer than the (soon to be updated, apparantly) website photos suggest:

Whenever I drive past that pub, I always think

"no coach parties"

Miserable buggars!

Windmill is not bad value.

Manor Court on A614 between Driffield and Brid serves nice food.

There’s also my local, Triton in Brantingham with my favourite roads across the top.

The place has recently been fully refurbished the food is good but there’s something……

Could be just me though.

Cheers,

Simon.

Bit late.

Chequers Inn, South Elmsall. No food but it's next to a good Kebab shop!!! Beers £2.00 a pint. Happy hour 8-10.

You wouldn't really want to eat anything that came out of the kitcken at the minute (you probably wouldn't be fast enough to catch it anyway)

Games room has no games but it's big enough for a stonking Scalextric layout!

I'd be happy to hook up for a beer in Nellie's, but not in the next week or so!

Bit late now but as a Beverley prisoner I would highly recommend The Pipe and Glass at South Dalton, the food there is fantastic in a very nice setting. Very reasonably priced I thought too, especially for a michelin starred chef!

Much better than pork scratchings in Nellies!!!

Blue Bell Weaverthorpe.

Fantastic food, Car park full of Astons, Rangies,Disco's etc.

We don't go out much, so the food there to us was fabo. Soup starter actually came inside the loaf of bread........How cool is that hehe Not cheap, but bloody good.

There's only two pubs in Weaverthorpe ( on main street) so easy to find, but a tt to get home from in the dark, especially if decide to go home a different way...wink

Damn................just seen the time thingy.D'oh.
