Z4C suspension problems

Has anyone else experienced any problems with the suspension on a Z4 Coupe - ours has developed a hollow knocking sound from the rear suspension, at first we thought it was the run flats but this has since been dismissed, useful to hear from anyone else who may have had the same problem.

My Z4C devloped an intermittant slight 'clonk' on the front suspension at about 11k miles ( it had always had a occassional rattle from the rear too from early on, but this was so irregular and slight that I didn't deem it enough to be bothered about). However the front end one was more noticable, I took it back to the dealer I bought it from and they found it to be the front tie bars that were slightly loose, they tightened them up - problem cured, however, I have a feeling they had a general tinker with the suspension as the rear rattle has completely vanished now too. So it' better now than it ever has been!

If I were you I'd take it back and get them to have a look at it.

Broken Coil Spring; probably drivers side? Common problem on Z4's and 3 Series. Mine was replaced under warranty

The front tie bars do work loose over time too generating front end creaks.

yep my money is on a broken coil spring as well, mine went last year.

The car has been with the dealer since October.........they have replaced various suspension componenets but it still makes the noise. Parts were taking an age to come from Germany so they brought in a brand new car from stock with a view to swopping bits over - only problem the brand new car makes the same noise, they brought over a second car which also makes the same noise............we are waiting to hear from BMW with there suggestions!!!!!!

Apparently this is also a common problem with Z3s, often suspension bushes or the straps holding the fuel tank in place. But it's also just as difficult to diagnose and there are a bunch of Z3 owners that just have to live with it.
