Hello, firstly I'm sorry for spamming yet another exhaust topic.

However, this would have been useful to me when considering upgrading the exhaust on my car:

www.reactoroverload.com/downloads/ls2_monaro_wortec_catback_only.mp3

This is a brief recording I've just made from my MY2005 Monaro VXR that's just had the Wortec cat-back fitted this morning. It's currently set to 'loud'. So far it seems a bit quieter than the VXR8 system. Standing behind a VXR8 being revved was a bit like being kicked in the chest, that was seriously loud!

Anyhow, the car has no other mods, so no remap or electronic switching for now - this saves a fortune! I was the first monaro to go through the Pentagon VXR outfit and I have to say it's a refreshing change from my previous experiance of Vauxhall. Top marks to Nick down there who was able to take us for a quick blat in a VXR8 to get a feel for the exhaust, good stuff!

Cheers,

Ken

Whats the price difference for no remap, if you don't mind me asking..

Where you told of any problems/issues with only having the cats done?

Cheers

I wasn't advised of any issues, another forum member (davevx220 I believe) queried Wortec about this and they apparently reckoned it would be fine. He's since done the same thing.

The price was £1150 including fitting and vat. Still quite a bit of money, but if you were to throw in electronic switching and a remap you could double that figure.

The Nick and the guys at Pentagon (Burton) are a good bunch and show that there are some good Vauxhall dealers (just not enough)

The VXR8 has a form of headers and large cats so they are louder with a cat-back than a Monaro BUT slip on a set of headers and 100cell cats and the 6.0ltr Monaro sounds even better.

The Exhaust option only on the 6.0ltr Monaro is fine as opposed to the 5.7ltr Monaros which can show problems...........But the Sport pac map changes how the car responds and make for a much better drive.......Try one and see!

Hi Mac,
Ive got a 6.0 VXR with a CAT back system (not Wortec) and it runs perfect and sounds the same and revs better than the standard exhaust.
I will be fitting new headers after xmas then get Wortec to do the re-map.
Why on earth did Vauxhall put such a quite system and and great sounding Engine?

Is it just my laptop, or is this THE worst recording of an exhaust in the world - ever

Cheers Nick.

As for the recording, yeah it could be better. It was recorded on an ancient mp3 player with a dodgy mic at a low bit-rate. That + laptop can't be good. I was also feeling a little self-concious as a few of the neighbours were about, so I didn't rig anything up properly and start spanking the engine!
