Does anyone know what the standard 111s (S2) exhaust set up is?

I would like to put a Larini system on it and don't know if I should replace part or all of the system from manifold to back box or just the box

If you're just after noise, the silencer unit will do this for you. Removing the cat can give as many problems as it solves. Manifolds can improve torque but won't make a huge difference and won't affect the exhaust note a great deal - plus it's a bigger job to fit.

I agree, cat back club sport system is the one.

Hey, I swapped my 111s exhaust the other month. I wrote it up on my website ad even did a before and after video.

check it out here: http://www.supermachine.co.uk/supermachine/BLOG/En...

BTW I was considering a larini but thought it wold be a bit loud for some track days so opted for the Janspeed Roadsport instead. I can definitely recommend it.

If it helps for your information, the 111S exhaust is very clever. So far as I can remember (please correct me if this is wrong), it operates one of the rear pipes under 4,000rpm or a certain modest throttle position, and then when you give the car some beans it operates both pipes at once. This keeps the back pressure at an optimum level and helps the car be efficient and powerful at all times. I think that's so clever that I won't be touching mine smile After all, you choose the 111S for its refinement and everyday comfort don't you?...

Has anyone experienced the difference between Larini, Quicksilver, Janspeed and PTP?

Doesn't Larini do Sport and Club Sport - any difference there too?

Larini Sport is much quieter, although I've yet to hear how much quieter!

Check my profile in the videos bit for some comparisons of larini exhausts - mine was the club sport and I thought that was spot on yes

Go Larini, you won't regret it, sounds stunning, never had any trouble at track days with mine (reads about 97-98db IIRC)

Find a tunnel & you'll be smiling for days!

Spot on Tony!smokin

Ever thought of selling those to Larini!

But is it worth having the sport cat too?

Try it with the normal cat in place and see what you think. TBH for me, mines just the right side of loud, I went on a run with Tony and his was bonkers but I don't think I'd enjoy a 200-mile motorway run with it. Plus you might have a few problems with trackdays, although I couldn't tell you how much louder the sports cat makes it.

They're on their site already biggrin (in the media section) hehe

I'd say no to the sports cat. Mine was de-catted and as Kevin says, it was loud. I liked it and didn't mind it but, with the roof on on long motorway journeys it did get a little tiresome. Was fine though and I managed it no probs - and did many hoons in it with mega motorway miles yes

I'd suggest just the club sport back box to start with and see what you think; I did that and loved it then only took the cat off a year later. The sports cat is a huge expense and gains no real advantage.

You certainly wouldn't be able to get on a track day with a back box and de-cat.

Hope that all helps thumbup

Thanks guys that was really helpful.

Out of interest did the decat give noticeable power reduction?

Is the old gasket re-usable or do I need to order in a new one

No, not a noticeable power reduction - but if you were being accurate then it reduces the back pressure which is not ideal for the engine (not bad, it just reduces the power ever so slightly...we're talking a few bhp).

Get yoruself the stainless steel exhaust fitting kit from elise parts; that has 2 new gaskets and new bolts. You WILL need to either cut or mangle off the old bolts as they'll be rusted on so new ones are a must, and new gaskets are best too (they come with the kit; i recall it was £15 something lke that)

Are the gaskets self sealing or do I need some paste?

I used my old gasket and it didn't need paste. A new one should be fine on
its own.
