When changing up its fine but when moving down the gears it never stays in 2nd and is becoming a problem, is this common or do i need a rebuild at some point?

Check it is not fouling on the trim panel, also that the gator is not cusing a problem.

I had this on my old Cerbera and was very pleased when I found it, avoided a gearbox rebuild.

Agree with extra, look for the obvious first. I once paid over a thousand pounds for a gearbox to be taken apart only to be told it wasn't a problem.

Later found the problem was a central electrode on a distributer!

But on the plus side there is a Cerb gearbox electronic manual on one of the threads I remember

Had a similar problem with mine, something had become misaligned. It didn't need a rebuild; still have a problem occasionally with it (if you're not positive with the gear change) and it's been like that for two years and hasn't got any worse.

Mine snatches out of second every now and again if not quite fully and positively engaged - now just very firm with it. Never popped out of it's own accord or anything like that and hasn't got any worse since I have had it so I just live with it - may need a rebuild at some point but fingers crossed not for a while.
