Just sent a Letter to my local MP
Discussion
Yes its a bit long-winded and the point maybe could have been made a little clearer. but i just felt somethnig had to be said to someone who might just possibly listen... maybe, from the side of the small business start-up ( average joe )

Dear David Hinton,
I am writing to you today from the viewpoint of being a young entrepreneur (24 y/o )
i have spent the last year developing my business idea, and developing my business plan, working out all of the technical aspects that i may potentially encounter once i begin to trade in my niche market.
before i started, i knew and understood that starting up in business would be a long and hard road to travel down, and that money would be tight.
which brings me to my point.
The fact that your government has begun litteraly throwing money away at "illegal" immigrants ( £5000 a time ).
These same people, have NEVER contributed to the British economy, have NEVER payed any taxes, and NEVER intend to.
as someone trying to start up in business, i am finding it exceedingly difficult to obtain the money i need to get started. even though, i have worked all my life, payed all my taxes, and contributed my small part to the economy.
I personally feel that instead of making the money leave out shores never to be seen again, why not re-invest in ourselves? improve our economy, and create jobs nationwide for people with all levels of qualifications?
what i am trying to say is that maybe this money that is being "thrown away" should be given to organisations that give small businesses a chance.
like the Princes trust. this money could enable them to offer young entrepreneur's up-to £9,000 to start up in business, creating jobs, and re-igniting the dying high street again.
or maybe it could be used to bolster the governments Small firms loan gaurentee scheme ( SFLG ) to drop the level of investment needed by the potential entrepreneur from 25% down to 20% or even 15%
to conclude, yes, this letter is a little me of me whining why them and not me. but im not just thinking about myself in this matter, people in general, they just want the chance to make somthing of them selves, and given the opportunity, alot of people will.
i am one of those people, and i have the drive an determination to "make it" i just want there to be an opportunity for others ( in this country ) to make it too
Yours sincerely,
Future entrepreneur

im located in Sandwell in the west mids. so dunno if the northeast project will cover me, ill search for it anyhoo tho
i have a businesslink advisor ive been working with, and also im working with a local organisations caled the BBA. together they've helped me refine my bus-plan, and adjust my expectations, and grasp on what is/can be achieved to the state its in now.
but to be honest, i could startup this business with about £50.. but i'd be taking a HUGE! risk, and the lack of funds would show in the presentation ( using a knackard old rusty car ) , the price of goods ( having to buy at retail prices ) , and the methods of payment availible to customers ( no website payment gateway ).
and then theres the fact that a £50 startup fund put my young family at risk due to needing the business to hit the ground running.
no sob story here, just focused determination.
Hoo-Rahh!

SFLG gov underwrites 75% for which you pay a 2% fee annually on the outstanding balance. Paid Quarterly. Only available if the individual has no personal assets to secure a conventional loan against.
The way the loan is structured means that your first payment is the highest payment you will make then the subsequent payments reduced each month. Min loan is £5k Max is £250k in multiples of £500. Loans are available for up to 10 yrs.
They are also only available to certain types of business, so worth checking all of that first. www.businesslink.gov.uk are excellent.

I am worried for you.The last thing you need to be venting about is that tosser Brown and bloody immigrants. Unless your business is directly influenced by government policy forget about it. Without coming across as being rude or blunt, stop being a victim and focus on your business.
Put yourself 6 months in to your venture. Your web site is brilliant. Your business cards are shiny. Your marketing message is perfect. Know one is buying your stuff. Writing another letter is not going to help. It might make you feel better, reassured that everything is conspiring against you and it is nothing to do with you why your business is failing. Wrong.
You need to be able to take a deep breath, looking openly and honestly about your self and your business and do something about it. You need to do this despite your MP, the Home Office, the Treasury, the world and much more importantly, your competitors. Don't take the plunge unless you are ready to do this each and every day.
Remember, it is 100% up to you, know one else. I wish you all the sucess in what ever you are about to do.
There is plenty of funding available for new business startup.
If you can present a professional business plan, with clear thinking, then funding shouldn't be a problem.
Try your local business chamber, or businesslink for first. Good luck getting started, sometimes it can take a long time and lots of effort to get going in the right direction.
I started a business 12 months ago with help from grants after a lot of searching around. I also worked and saved hard for the 4 years previous to help with almost all start up costs.
If it was easy to get money thrown at every business idea out there, then a LOT of money would go to waste.
On the subject of "illegal immigrants" a lot of them are legal, and running from some very harsh conditions. Have you ever even spoke to these people before? most have to leave family behind to come here.
Don't get me wrong, I wish you every success, but sometimes it's just up to you to find a way to get your business up and running.

Sorry, that is a lot of absolute rubbish ,there only here for the FREE handouts.WHY do they ALL pass through France (not a repressed state)to get to the UK.
answer, FOR THE FREE CASH HANDOUTS, they only get soup in France
If we stopped giving them free housing/rates/healthcare/meal vouchers,+£34.00 cash per week and child benefit for children back home they would not come to the UK.
What a silly country this is!
christ, this soap box is a bit wobbly!
