We've just had our first meeting regarding making 3-4 of of our regional account managers redundant - I'm one of them.

This is 'a very bad thing' - mostly because my company car will have to be sent back.....

Anyway - I'm a bit stumped as to where to start looking now.

My previous experience has been store management roles, mostly in supermarket and convenience retailing, with a bit of books / stationery and electricals thrown in.

Current role is managing 32 'concession' sites within major UK supermarket chains - basically working with store and regional management to build the business and drive profitability.

We specialise in 'weekly changing thingies' and what some would consider to be 'coffee' - but others say the coffee isn't anything like real coffee..... oh, and the name sounds like 'Cheapo' wink

Anyway - can someone please give me some pointers as to where to look next? - I want something fairly similar, or a key account role and at a push I'd consider area / regional manager for a high street chain.

The situation isn't desperate, yet, but I'd like to get a head start in case the worst happens.

Cheers.

Sorry to hear this. Perhaps you are a victim of the money they've spunked on the new advertising or is that a last ditch attempt at getting women into the stores?

The Grocer I imagine would be a good start for your line of work.

Monster.com as well

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll be having a look at the Grocer online, but will have to track down a paper copy tomorrow.

Haven't looked at Monster yet, but I've been on Jobsite most of the evening.

Like I say, it's not a desperate situation as yet- we know that pretty much half of us are gone, but not which individuals, as yet.

But it pays to start the search as soon as you hear stuff like this.....

And yes, it does annoy me that we've spunked all that cash on TV adverts in the South East, when that money would have been better spent on keeping the team together..... but it was a decision taken at a global level - every country has been given a money saving target.
