any good articles on tuning this 5.7l small block chevy v8.
when finnished our road cars next year looking to make a dedicated drag car. probably useing this engine and maybe into something like a capri or 240z.

now my mate coming from a hot rod background knows a fair amount, but my on other hand dont really know to much about these engines, and only the basic/normal tuning so looking to research them more.

cheers

If you're interested in Small block chevy V8's, you need to read the wise words of David Vizard.

He wrote a whole series of books that are worth their weight in fivers.

How to Rebuild Your Small Block Chevy
How to Build and Modify Chevy Small Block V-8 Heads
How to Build and Modify Chevrolet Small-Block V8 Camshafts and Valvetrains
and there were others as well in the "Motorbooks International Powerpro Series"

If you need any pointers on doorslammer chassis get "Doorslammers, the chassis book" by Dave Morgan from amazon.ca or amazon.com. Don't forget to read and understand the chassis construction rules in the applicable portions of the MSA blue book before you cut any tubing !

Finally the series of books by Carroll Smith; "Tune to Win"; "Engineer to Win"; "Prepare to Win" & "Nuts, Bolts and Fasteners Handbook" are a great read.

Apart from doorslammers you can get them all at Amazon.co.uk.

old school sb v8 is going to be easier to build for power rather than one of the newer(?) injected derivatives like the TPI, LT1 or LS series. Pete Knight is the man to talk to at Knight Racing Services in Daventry - built me a 700bhp n/a small block chevy and knows what he's doing.
