Hi Gents, apologies if a repost (I have used the search function) but my Elise's wheels are a bit mucky, to the extent where there is some staining on the alloy.

Can the great and the good recommend a decent product to get my wheels back to new, and also a good product to protect them?

Thanks!!

Pop into your local Porsche dealer and for £10 get their wheel cleaner. It is a non toxic, non acidic liquid, made by P21S (also available via the web), and spray it onto your wheels before gently washing with a wash mitt/sponge/wheel brush etc.

Rinse and dry the wheels and then use a decent wheel wax, such as Autobahn Wheel wax available from Swissvax, or Chemical Guys Wheel Guard, Poorboys Wheel Sealant or Wheelwax.

Every six to eight weeks re-apply the wax and it will help keep your wheels looking fantastic.

The R222 (P21S is USA designation) which is the same as the Porsche dealers sell rebranded, is a very good cleaner.
Then again, so is Bilberry from www.valetpro.co.uk - but only in 5L containers at the moment.
As for protection - Bilt Hamber Auto Balm is one to consider, as it does both body and wheels.
In respect of staining - that could be corrosion, in which case a refurb would need doing to remove, but you could always try the Bilt Hamber Auto Clay to see if it shifts it.

As PJS says, Bilbury is very good indeed, in terms of value for money, effectivness, and how safe it is to use on any wheel types. P21S is great, but is strong stuff and absolutely stinks of rotten suplhur, very unpleasant to use.

P21s is a great wheel cleaner, but if you seal your wheels you should only require ordinary shampoo.

The most long lasting sealant I have used on the wheels is the Zaino range of sealants. 3 layers of Z2 Pro with ZFX to be precise. I usually run a 6 month cycle whereby one set is on for 6 months and then another set are on for 6 months. The Zaino lasted from March til November, very good indeed.

I'm currently testing the Duragloss sealants 105 with the Polish Bonding Agent on my winter wheels.

Prep is always key, but a very good sealant such as these will outlast a wheel sealant with ease.

Chemical Guys Jetseal #109 is probably the best wheel sealent there is....and when put on top of a decent wax will protect the surface for many months regardless of the number of times it is washed. Once waxed and sealed all you need to do is handwash the wheels with a decent car shampoo.

I wouldn't be putting the Jetseal on top of a wax, I would have thought you'd get better durability by making sure the surface is squeaky clean and then putting Jetseal on that surface.

This is how I manage to get 8 months out of Zaino, prep is always key.

Any long life sealant will last well if it is on top of well prepped wheels.

Yep, seconded, the wax should be applied over the sealant, not under.
