Just picked up a 97 4.2 Cerb yesterday and have been getting to know it VERY gingerly on the cold, damp roads biggrin

It's an awesome car. Absolutely barking mad and I love it to bits. Even Beloved loves it (which is a little wierd as she NEVER likes my cars...).

I've come from a VX220 and before that a 500bhp R32 Skyline GT-R, so before anyone says it, I know all too well about the big power, wet/cold roads & RWD issues. Hence I'm driving like a fanny at the moment just getting used to it.

After asking a few questions on here I took people's advice and went up to TrackVRoad in Clitheroe (I'm based in Bolton) to talk thought all things TVR and to make sure I was aware of the needs of a beasty such as the Cerb. Richard, Craig, Ian & John were all absolute stars and I can't thank them enough for their time and advice. In the end I decided to buy one of their customer's car (he'd just upgraded to a Sagaris, I think, and the car ticked all the boxes. Buckets of receipts, full service history and masses of evidence of more TLC on top of that as well, and a complete top-to-toe inspection and niggle-fix courtesy of TrackVRoad. To top it all off, I also got a full warranty on the car as well (which is worth it's weight in gold IMHO).

Not sure if IMG links work on PH but here goes...

Starmist red with biscuit tan interior. Have to say I wasn't too sure about tweed as part of the interior trim but I'm absolutely positive now - it's perfect for the car. Bonkers, a little impractical and very, very British. Love it biggrin

I'm taking the risk of running this Cerb as my daily driver. 12,000 miles per annum. I dn't expect Bavarian-like reliability but having had all the checks and stuff done that can be done I'm hoping that I've maximised my chance of having a fairly reliable daily driver.

Ice and frost on the roads this morning so pottered to work being very gently (10 minutes motorway, 10 minutes A roads) and the old girl was comfy, polite and no 'oh-my-God-I'm-going-to-die' moments on the corners (although I may have taken them like Miss Daisy).

Yes, theyre smooth and sleek. Yes, the interior is mad as a badger. Yes, the paints are luscious. Yes, they go EXTREMELY well. Yes, they have heritage. But anyone that tells you that they bought one because of any of those things are lieing through their teeth.

The noise.

Oh my God.

The noise.....

Nice one - well done that man. I *do* like red Cerbs.

Daily driving is perfectly feasible, even if you need to 'drive like a fanny' at times. Better to be a sensible fanny than a stupid censored!

Sounds like an astute purchase (or at least as astute as one can get buying a Cerb! wobble). Congrats and enjoy! beer

Cheers folks smile

I've had a request from the guys'n'gals at work to park it nose-first in my parking space, as the parking space is in front of the office and it's (apparently) a little loud when the exhausts are facing the door/windows.

Phone calls stop. Conversations get drowned out. The windows shake and reception starts to smell just a teeny bit of exhaust gas (pah! at £1.09 a litre, that's quality air freshener IMHO!).

Need to give her a clean though as the windscreen doesn't half collect all the sh1te off the motorway!

Very nice, good choice + research. But did you get her anything? scratchchinhehe

I had a bit of xmas cheer today - word from the garage is that my cerb now runs (it has been off the road since July following an electrical fire). Just waiting on a few parts, then new screen can go in, paint and fresh MOT and it should be ready mid to late January. Something to look forward to, can't wait smile

Merry xmas fellow cerb drivers!
