Just spoke to these guys who are about a mile from my house

I have enquired how much to get the chassis shotblasted & painted with a zinc rich paint.

The guy said 'about £150'

I've put my wire brush away.

Its hardly worth getting under you car for that. I like the idea of shot blasting too as its definatley going to reveal any nasties.

But surely you feel like your'e cheating!

Could I catch you with a pair of yellow marigolds on during your next air filter change too?

Cheating - nope I won't have the slightest guilt.
I reckon if you weigh up what you spend in wire brushes, paint, primer etc it goes some way towards the cost anyway.
Just the small matter of taking it to bits now.
I need to get a move on anyway as we are potentially moving house next summer, so it needs to be done for then, don't fancy moving house with a TVR kit.

I've had a better look at their website now - and they do various painting options too, so may get them to paint it, its all cured in an oven too, which would be better than my brass monkeys garage!

your right no guilt at all the only way i would do a wire brush job was if the body was staying on you really cant beat a blast take all the metal bits to them and go to the pub at £150 its got to be done

budget for about £300 quid. £150 for the shot blast and paint and £150 beer money to spend in the pub instead of being on your back with the old wire brush. Watch this space i can see this shot blast com getting quite a lot of business.

£300 still a bargain its taken me 1.5 hours just to clean up a front hub and its still not finished its too cold try again tomorrow see what you would be missing 2 nil to the blast

Only me - do you have to strip the car completely to shot blast it or can you cheat a bit - mine will be fixed and properly too - I have spent the last 8 hrs measuring and creating repeatable datums, the maximum error I have when setting up is 0.17mm - I will be leaving the inner brackets in position and using them as a secondary datum (car chassis datum primary) - middle jan welding will be finished.

Then my back end is jacked up I noticed that when I turn one wheel the other rotates in the opposite direction is it an LSD ?

PS Ken the measurement between the furthest outboard sus bracket and the nearest upper wishbone mounting centre to centre is 1735.213 RH side and 1735.392 LH side on mine. I will post some CAD model shots on PH soon.

My thoughts for the bits that can't be blast cleaned (like hubs) was to use Bilt Hamber deox Gel.

I managed to get the chassis and all suspension units shot blasted and powder coated for less than £300. Definately worth doing.

I started by wire brushing everything, taking hours, then spoke to a guy who told me the price of shot blasting etc, the wire brush went in the bin. The company I used, shot blasted everything and zinc coated it. I then took the chassis away for welding, then back to shot blasters for another shot blast and powder coating, can't recommend it enough. You know exactly what you've got once completed.
