Hi all,
Picked up the Monaro a little over week ago now :-)
Still getting use to it but well chuffed, have a couple of questions....
Its a 2006 CV8 and have noticed that when moving slowly in traffic the first stage fan comes on/off, the outside temp is about 2'C. Thought it a little strange as it really is cold outside, if the temp was closer to 20'c it would be on all the time.
Just wondered if there any things to lookout for i.e Gearbox/diff noise, engine temps etc?
I also noticed a slight rock when it idles, like a v8 engine rock but a little stronger every few seconds.
Just want to make sure I get any potential problems sorted out asap :-)

My 05 CV8 rocks like you say - I guess it is the result of the engine tune. Some idle smoothness sacrificed for power higher up the rev range. Certainly not much chance of balancing a pencil on it!. Idles smack on 750rpm. Never really noticed my fan come on under any conditions, even in the summer. Only diff/gearbox noise I have noticed is a buzz from the gear lever which does throb/vibrate with the engine load. I changed my box for the VXR type with shorter ratios, a mod I strongly recommend. Replacement otherwise much the same though gear lever buzzes less.

Ay up monkey, I'm a new ro owner as well. Sorry I can't help you out, but I've noticed the exact same things as you, and the fan comes on on mine all the time!!! You got me thinking now....
Thanks Gents, my last Car was an alfa and they can leave you a little on edge :-)
Sounds like the rock is normal...thought it might be...just good to know others have it.
To be honest the fan is quite hard to hear over the background engine noise so it could be just a normal operation and the gauge does not move. Thanks to the Alfa's 'work when it wants' fan I really do notice them or the lack of them. I did a search on the forum and it looks like oil levels really make a difference with the engine heat, noticed mine was about half way between the markers. Could be worth checking your oil levels Roastbeef.
But the car is cracking, not driven anything like it before.
