I know it's policy not to name names, so I won't. But I am having serious problems with the garage that had my GT4 in for some work.

It all started when I took it in for a new clutch, belts and general tune up. They found all sorts of problems with the engine (various bearings & pulleys) which we came to an agreement about fixing. They fixed all this and I paid, but when I came to pick up the car, the gearbox was making an awful noise. They told me this had started when they changed the gearbox oil - which wasn't something I asked them to do.

I drove the car home, but the noise really was unbearable, and it was proving difficult to get 2nd gear. After consulting a different specialist, I agreed with the original garage that they would take it back in and attempt to resolve the gearbox problem. Since then, every time I phone I am fobbed off by some flunky, and have no idea what they are doing with the car...if anything? It's been over a month now, not including the 5 weeks they had the car for the original work, and I am understandably running short of patience.

I think it would be counterproductive to do anything silly at this stage, but what realistically are my options?

Just show up in person. Be friendly...tell them you were in the area on an errand/business and wanted to stop in and see how your car was doing. They can't fob you off if you are standing there.

Thanks Mike, I perhaps should have mentioned that they're about 70 miles away from me!

Who would have thought, but the garage phoned me about 2 hours after I posted this message!

We have agreed a deal to sort the gearbox problems. Shame I missed Pistonfest and won't be able to take it to the Festival of Speed though...

Sorry to hear about your problems, but it will feel extra special when you get her back

Thanks Nev,

I'm sure it will.

Have been relying on watching C'etait un Rendevous for my Ferrari fix for the last 2 months!
