T350 Glove box

Are all the Glove boxes distorted on t350's,also were could i get a new one, just got the car with 4k on clock surprised its like this so soon ?

This is the only thing that lets the interior down.

It wouldn't really bother me but every person who gets in my car tries to push it down and asks whats up with it, so now it bugs me!

I think the majority of glove boxes are like this. I know ths question has been answered on here before.

What year is the car. Think they changed the lid from plastic to GRP around 05ish to stop the distortion.

Mine is an 04 car. Might explain it. Do you know if it can be fixed?

Yes can be fixed.

Replace with current lid part no. B1682

Remove the two fixing screws then roll front egde up and out.

Might seem a bit brutal to start with, just use your hands no tools;

OK ! what I meant to say was, the so called 'leather' covering,
is it easy to move onto the new lid !

Slightly related ... ... my glove box gets very damp with air-con on?
I assume the cold air runs beneath the glove box to the vent?
Therefore if I take the glovebox assembly out would it make sense to make a better seal when re-fitting?

I have my new lid and have removed the glovebox unit. Upon first inspection however I see that the lid is glued to the hinge with what looks like a hot glue gun stuff and that I expect it to be very difficult to remove the existing covering (lets assume leather!) without damage.

Has anyone actually achieved this? I am inclined to hand it over to the trim guy that does work for Dream Machines and as him to do it?

Spoke to DM to see if their guy would recover it. They said that they normally just turn the hinge over so that it is trying to close rather than trying to open and this improves it.

Looking at it though you would need to reverse the action of the springs to achieve this? Anyone tried this?

I spoke to Racing Green and they would normally fit a new lid (did not say if it is easy to do) but have said they are down to their last replacment lid and are unable to get new ones at the moment. They are considering getting them re-manufactured using the one they have in stock as a template.

Good if they can get them remanufatctured.

Right chaps - forget the new lid and covering it etc, if like mine you would struggle to remove the old lid from the hinge in any case as it is glued on.

I have removed the springs and reversed them, mounting them on the existing mounts but above the hinge so that they force the lid closed rather than open. THe immediate result is a near perfect fit and I believe that as the hinge continues pulling down this will improve.

I did some before and after pics of the spring position which I will try and post in a bit.

Getting the whole thing back in is hard so I covered the mouth with leather cream as well as the base of the glovebox and it slid straight in with no scuffs.
