Help! window not dropping far enough when opening the door

Hi chaps,

My passenger window has just started playing up. The window is not dropping far enough (about half what it should do) when the door release button is pressed. What I have to do is drop the window a little bit using the down window button in the car so that it doesnt catch on the top roof bit. Its not an issue with the window motor I dont think as the window up and down buttons work fine. It just seems to be that its forgot how far to put the window down on release of the doors.

Any advice would be appreciated as its doing my nut in.

Hi Dom,
This has come up before i think.
If i remember, you need to open both windows fully, close the doors,then lock the car so windows close--i believe it retrains the system.
I could be wrong.

I have just started getting the same problem. I thought the solution would be more involved. I will have to give this a try.

i had this problem, i put a touch of silicon gel on a cloth and rubbed it over the seals where they contact the glass.....they have been perfect ever since and as a bonus the silicon protects the seals....worth a try ! (most motor factors stock silicon in spray form)

I did what Paxo did too, but this was because the windows were "slow" either way.
The amount it drops when opening the door is to do with the window mechanism cycle
Do both and see!!

I'd be interested to learn more about this also.

My passenger window does this sometimes but only on the odd occasion. I vaguely remember someone saying something about re-setting a control unit which is in the passenger footwell, but I may have got this wrong so if anyone can shed any light it would be appreciated.
