Don't want to raise the hopes of my friend in a wheelchair but is it possible to have a passenger on a trackday that has no use of her legs?

It would be up to the organisers of each track day, but I've been at track days where it was definitely allowed (because there were disabled people there being taken out for passenger rides) so I wouldn't expect any fundamental problem.

last time I asked the only stipulation was that any occupants must be capable of "exiting the car unaided within 60 seconds".

There are a few racing drivers around who's mobility is impaired in some way.

I remember when I used to marshal the drivers names and car numbers would be read out in the briefing along with the warning that its likely their cars controls might be awkward to use in the event we needed to move the car. Their cars might have been stickered up to but I couldnt be sure now.

I would have a chat to the organisers just to be sure it can be done...not much point in just turning up and having to let someone down!

I've been a passenger in a car driven buy a chap who didn't have he use of his legs on a MSV trackday. Likewise there wasn't a problem when he did the same in my car. He was pretty quick too.

I'm a wheelchair user and have been on many trackdays and never had a problem. Just make sure you and your passenger agree what you will do in the event of an unscheduled stop. Eg if the wheelchair is in the boot - you will get it out for the passenger or if its at the pit you have alerted the marshalls to that fact.

Should be ok, just tell the organisers the situation, in the event of an accident, how you would like to be dealt with and all should be well.

I've done Brands Hatch and they were 100% fine with it.

Would carry an extinguisher as well, accessable by driver.

Personally I would never head out on track without one anyway.

If your taking someone along for the ride I would actually have 2 of them...1 in a position that it can be reached and activated by the passenger, an extinguisher is no good if only the driver can reach it and he/she is unconcious!!

I've both taken disabled people out for passenger laps (at the ASDA day) and there's a regular sprinter (in a Toyota Supra Turbo) who's in a wheelchair, so I don't see a problem. Just let the organisers know.

Thanks for the help, I'll see if I can find one at a track near her area in the spring.
