Folks, I'm hurting. One of my and Mrs B's closest friends died suddenly without warning yesterday of a brain haemorrhage. She was only 49 (we had known and loved her for over 30 years). Her only relatives live miles away and myself and other friends have been dealing with things until they can be contacted and can take over. I found having to do the formal identification for the coroners office particularly stressful and upsetting. Life is so censored unfair! The poor woman was one of the few people I've known that NO-ONE had a bad word for...

Prof

I'm sure you know there's nothing anyone can say to help you get through this. Just don't try to fight how you're feeling; be brave in public but make sure you give yourself some quiet time to just curl up and give in.

So sorry you had to go through this any time, much less at what's supposed to be a joyful time of year. We had a little sad time this morning thinking about absent friends and that's bad enough - so sorry that your pain is so raw and fresh.

Terrible news prof frown

I hope you get through it OK, and be safe in the knowledge you have everybody here on PH to offer kind words, support and the virtual hug you need.

Thanks Folks

One of my/her other friends has made contact with the relatives. I think between us we have now told everyone who was close the her. A bit of a drain to put it mildly.

It always seems (even) worse somehow, around this time of year.

On Friday, my friend John from Eastbourne told me of his best friend's son dying at 2am that day, aged just 9. There's not too much anyone can say really.

There's never a good time, I lost someone close a few days before my birthday and that was all pretty sudden, its not great, so have a virtual hug from me.

Luckily you have the support of each other and I am sure you will pull through and that is what your friend would have wanted.

One of my friends has also just had a sudden bereavment it's seems so wrong when people are still in their prime and it's always the good ones.

You have my every sympathy. Time will heal the hurt and the devastation.

Last month my grandmother and my favourite director at work died within a week of each other and I had to choose which funeral to attend because they were held in the same week, 6500 miles apart.

Nonetheless, you have a virtual hug from me and please try to think about the good times you had with her.

Best wishes

My deepest sympathy to all concerned.
Set an extra place at the Xmas dinner table (for absent friends)and remember them how they would have wanted to be remembered.

Deepest sympathies from the Lowlands too, Prof. You're probably not feeling too 'festive' now - but hopefully you'll enjoy a lovely Christmas with your loved ones, still. smile

Very sad. There is never a good time of year for someone to die but it seems more depressing at Christmas where most people are gearing up to celibrate.
