I have started to grow used to the ZX6R, and I quite fancy something with a touch more torque and a bit more useable... I like the idea of a big twin, or maybe just a litre sports bike. It needs to be sporty, but i don't really know what I want... Budget will be whatever I can get for the Kawasaki, so just under 2000 I hope. Any suggestions?

Tricksy, with that budget. Biketrader is pretty dismal for 1000cc jobbies under 2k, with a LOT of early nineties stuff. Might not exactly set your world on fire...
A zero cost to change isnt going to entice a dealer to help you out, either..

I've been told apart from the extra power I can't expect the 9R to be much different, what do you think? I think I might want to get away from having none of the power before 8000rpm...
What's the general consensus on this?:

All i can say regarding the VTR is my brother had one and didn't rate it at all.. I regularly go out on my ZX9 and can keep up with most, well actually all my riding mates. But a good pilot on an R1 etc would take some beating, just for £2K lots of grunt and fun.

Try an early mille, if you're lucky you might pick one up for that sort of money, it won't disappoint!

Thanks for the head's up, I forgot that pic was there! That was the livery for Le Mans 2006, and I have a transit instead, very handy to take the bike to track days...

Would a Mille not cost loads to maintain, being italian and all? My transit already behaves like an italian supercar, I need at least one reliable vehicle...
