I think I may be in love with my Pogo Drive. Its been a rocky relationship to start as they had a glitch in the software for speed camera warning and also in the mapping but within a week of getting it they had resolved the mapping issues and they have now very promptly resolved the warning software as well so i will never miss another camera again.

The guys running pogo could not be more helpfull. My first unti was faulty so they told me i could drop it off and they would send a new one out to me next day del. Rocked up they looked at my existing one said yup somethings not right and gave me a new one on the spot instead of making me wait for a day or two for a new one to be couriered.

New unit then appeared to be faulty as wouldnt react to touch screen so they immediately offered to send a new one. Next morning I pulled the protective plastic off the screen and it worked fine day after new unit arrived. Day after that all issues I had raised were resolved software was rewritten and refreshed on unit when i updated.

It now works faultlessly and is as ruthlessly efficient at picking up speed cams as origin b2 was.

Road angel tom tom garmin etc eat your heart out this thing rocks.
I have not seen anything else as good at doing both speed cams and nav.

All problems are addressed immediately you get a two year warranty which you wont get on many other similar devices.

Long and short if you want to keep your license and get where you are going easily and efficiently Pogo drive is the only way to go.
I had a Tom Tom which I liked however I love this thing.

And no i dont work for pogo drive nor am i in anyway affiliated with the company I just want to tell the world.

Ps also you get europe and uk mapping as part of the package a large proportion of the other sat nav systems have only gb maps.

The new version of the Pogo software released a couple of weeks ago is much better. I too had some problems with my first unit but it was dealt with (replaced the unit) very quickly and without hassle.

I haven't seen the competitors in action but I'm happy with the Pogo.

Yup you can add poi and i believe they may presently be looking into the talivans notification issue but cant say for sure need to get in touch and find out really.
At the end of the day one of the reasons to get a pogodrive is the companny attitude. If you have a problem they are easy to get hold of propmt in resolving or should the case be trying to resolve the problems as you may pick up from my first post. Any issues reported get looked into software gets updated and your device will get the revisions next time you update unlike most other sat/nav speed cam systems.

Do so. The mapping revisions have been done so it now runs more efficiently and they have recently resolved the software clash between motorway and a roads so it alerts for every single cam. Simply put take out of box. Plug into computer. Hit update. Unplug put in car enjoy.

So you would recomend them then? I'm quite tempted after my pda based tom tom died last week.

Is it easy to just use it as a camera detector when not using the mapping function?

Absolutely. Its as simple as tap the screen. Tap abort to clear last navigated route and then tap safety only and voila takes all of around 5secs. There are still a couple of gremlins which i need to chase them up about one of which is the screen brightness which last i spoke to them they werent aware of the issue but once informed said they would look at it. Basically you can adjust brighter or darker on daytime but for some reason in night mode you cannot adjust brighter or darker and it seems set at bright which means daylight brightness almost which is a little annoying coming from a tom tom black night screen but im pretty confident it will be resolved in short order as everything else has been.

Also safety only is quite dark so if you know where you are going at night just leave it in safety mode but this is probably just me being picky.

Good call you wont be dissapointed. Spoke to the guys today and they have their techs looking at the screen issue as we speak and apparently the other issues i had were due to my having an old sd card and they have said if the second unit i have at the mo hasnt got a new sd i can swop over before sending back they will send me a new one asap.

Yours should arrive tommorow their next day so far with me has been next day.

Postman caught me as I was leaving the house this morning. I've had a little play with it at lunch and it all seems very simple and striaght forward.

How do you register it though? I've connected it to my pc and it says it's fully updated but I've not had to enter any codes up any of my info.

No need to reg iirc. When you first update it they reg the unit for you. Pogo should have your details on file from when you ordered it which they match up to your serial number.

Brilliant - last time I used mine it told me database was 81 days out of date! Will update this tomorrow and test on the weekend.

Does anyone know if they update the maps, or is it just the speed cameras?

None of the roads where I live appeared on it when I first bought it - but I was told they would resolve around December 2007. Obviously I need to update - but will I be pleased to see the roads near me? or is this not to be expected?

Not sure if they update maps as part of normal update feature but you will have one of the old sd cards which have now been changed and may have updated maps. I would suggest getting in touch with the guys and ask them direct about it and whether you could have a new sd card.

I updated mine (needed to register and input the dealer number from where I bought it from) it only updated the speed cameras.

I have only used it a couple of times, the speed cameras have been spot on but the route planning seems to leave a little to be desired.

On my normal route home it tried to send me a different route (fair enough theres a few options) but it took a while to realise that I wasn't going to go that way before it planned a new route.

2nd time I was heading for somewhere near junction 26 of the m1. due to heavy traffic I decided to ignore its suggwestions of A roads and head to the motorway, it took a long time to stop suggesting the A roads, telling me to turn in none U turn possible junctions. It was even telling me to pull off at every junction on the M1 so that I could use A roads.

I need to check the settings so that its not trying to avoid motorways but so far I'm impressed with the speed camera element but the mapping still needs improvement.

Only just found out about these things.

My b2 screen has been on the blink for ages and they offered an exchange at reduceed price, which I didn't get round to. Now I guess that won't happen!

The b2 replacement is the same price as the navigation unit. I assume they don't want anyone to buy the b2 replacement? Or does it offer facilities absent in the navigation unit?

Always liked the size and shape of the b2, easy to pop into a shirt pocket. Can't say that for the new unit...it's a cube.

Which is a bugger....

So far as i know they will still give you a reduced price on both the pogo and pogo drive in return for sending in your b2 which they no longer sell. Also the pogo is tiny smaller than the b2 even and the pogodrive is not particularly big either. As for comments on mapping it can be a bit slow still to redirect and its something that i will bring up next time i chat to them i doubt it will stay that way for long although if you have one of the old sd cards that may make a difference in speed of rerouting and as you say you may also have it set up wrong.

ETA to the best of my knowledge the speed cam only Pogo is around 100 less than the pogo drive and its basically got the same functions as the b2 inc laser det which the pogo drive doesnt have.

PPS also bear in mind this is their first go at a sat nav so there are/will be glitches which they are working on as they go along and patience is a virtue. I would suggest reading the hand book. I didnt and struggled initially to get to grips with things as i was so used to the way my tom tom worked i expected my pogo to work the same.

Stick with it the speed cam facility alone makes it worth having. Its one of the few on the market which actually tells you which way the cameras are facing and what type.
