Hi everyone. If, like us, you are busy in the garage/shed, working on your next kit car why not take a break and post some pics on PH for all to see.
I'll start the ball rolling with some pics of our Stuart Taylor Motorsport Phoenix, a joint venture between myself and Eldon.
This is to be our trackday car and is being built (loosely) to RGB race spec.
Engine is 929 injected Fireblade. Diff is a 3.38 LSD. Shocks will be Yamaha R1 units, suitably resprung.
The chassis is a 2005 model, the interim (lowered) unit before the full round tube one was produced. We have added some extra triangulation, especially around the diff, as this is a known issue.
Front top rockers have been reworked to accept needle roller bearings. Engine cradle is our own design and manufacture. All aluminium with fully notched joints. Pedals are all ally, machined ( by myself) from solid.
Front brakes are Wilwood four pots, rear brakes are four pot Tokicos from a ZX9.
Steering column features needle rollers and the gearchange paddles will be machined from titanium plate.
We have Tim Gray's old bodywork from his RGB championship winning car, complete with tyre marks down the side and various battle damage.
Fueltank, header and breather tanks will be made in-house by Eldon. He is going to make a full aluminium radiator if we can get a suitable core.
We are setting ourselves a ( hopefully ) high standard, particularly on our self produced parts. We know that we may be over-engineering things a bit, but we are trying ( along with many of you out there )to produce something that even if not unique, at least has some unique features.
Your comments ( or criticisms) are invited.
Our last trackday car was a Fury Fireblade, recently sold to RACINGSNAKE on PH. It was brilliant fun and indecently quick. The Phoenix will be lighter and more powerful, as well as being set up purely for racing.
I can't wait!!

Now it's over to you. Please post some pics and spec of your ongoing project. I will add to this thread as and when. I know that PH has a " Readers' Cars" section but I thought that this thread would be better placed here.
Now get into the garage with that new camera!!
Geoff.

Wow - those pedals are NICE!

Been building a (2001 Carb'd) R1 engined MNR Vortx RT+ since February.

Since October it's been in the capable hands of a guy called Steve Hignett who I got in touch with on the Locostbuilders forum. Sadly working and taking-on a part-time Masters degree meant that I didn't have the time to do the necessary work.

Merry Xmas all.

Don't think it is finished, once the SVA test is out of the way :-)
I'm still finishing my car and it has been on the road since March ...

Rob, just had another look at your site as it has been a while. Glad you got yours out at the weekend, I was slightly the worse for wear on Saturday so left it until Sunday and yesterday to go out in mine smilebounce Had a couple of stunning drives.

I feel somewhat endebted to you, as I think it was your build diary, and enthusiasm for the Fury that first put it on the map for me; I was sorely tempted to build one but decided it would probably still be being build in 3 years time, so decided to opt for the 2nd hand option instead.

Cheers
Hugh
