Yes, I'm a fan.
No, I'm not going too see it.
I was very much a Satch fan when I was learning to play, although I've moved away from all that modal speed picking one hand arpeggio sort of stuff these days. That's not to say I don't still appreciate that stuff though!

Yes me and Gooby from the Lotus forums will be at the same show. Check tyour ticket think you will find its at the pavilion.
The support act is Paul Gilbert fellow G3 member (others include Vai, Eric Johnson, Pettruci, etc) and of course formally of Racer X and Mr Big, and he is awsome.
We saw Satch Play 18 months ago at the same venue, and as a fan of his for almost 20 years i finally got to see him, and all i can say is i was not dissapionted, just left speachless after.
Listen and play a "BIT" of Vai and Satch and just fufilled a long held ambition and now am the pround owner of both ibanez Signiture Guitars, (Red JS 1200, and Jem 7V White.)

You got nay ideas on probably setlists? Or definites?
Think the tickets are selling quick so i would not hang around.
As for the venue the Pavilion is better in my opinion for sound and does feel a bit more intamate.
With set lists he normally does the usual stuff like Flying, Surfing, always, summer song, but he is releasing a new album in the spring so i would expect to hear some new songs, last time he did the tour he played quite alot of new material (roughly what you get on the 'Satriani Live' DVD)

Surfing With The Alien, and Flying In a Blue Dream have some monster guitar tunes.Got any recommendations for some good 'Satch albums?
I've got some iTunes vouchers and am struggling to decide what to get.
I've got (on CD) The extremist, The anthology double CD, Crystal Planet and Joe Satriani.
What others would you recommend?

In the same sort of genre, Passion & Warfare by Steve Vai is also extra premio good (check out "For The Love of God", "Blue Powder", and "The Audience is Listening" )

Wow thee is so much good stuff to choose.
The two i would buy are the two live albums, Live in San Fransisco that was recorded in 2001, and even better is the lastest live disc called "satriani Live", Joe is phenomenal Live and you dont get his improvisation on the studio albums. Plus you get the best stuff on one album. There are also DVDs of both.
Good Call on the Steve Vai Passion and Warfare album, its out of this world Literally!!!!
Remember Satriani was Vai's first Guitar teacher when they were in high school together on Long Island, So as you can imagine there are similarities between them, Satch has a bit more tone and feel to his songs, and Vai is on some other planet taking experimental Guitar music constantly to new levels.
One thing is for sure these are the torch bearers when you use the term guitar gods. Alot of the new bands coming out are no where when you look at these guys. There is some light out there. have a look at joe Bonnamassa, this guy can seriously play and sing as well!!!!

I have seen him 5 or 6 times and he is just brilliant. He is very "humble" on stage and the music is the show. with Steve Vai who is a showman of the Dave Lee Roth school, there is a real show and lots to keep you amused. I still find the satriani show more "satisfying".
I was at a G3 show when Brian May got on stage and the Bissonett brothers, Brian May, satriani and Vai did "Red House". Still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up just thinking about it. Right at the front in the days when there was a mosh pit.

Once you get used to the patterns and take it in stages, it's not actually too bad. Does help if you've got a long reach though

Back to the point in question - didnt like anything after Crystal Planet personally. Time Machine (the live bit) is worth getting hold of
