New Brakes - Well almost - -

At last finally getting round to replacing front brakes. I have decided to stick with what I have but to shop around for different manufacturers.

Please can anyone advise on the best options/combinations for the parts

OEM - Ford Sierra / Motorcraft parts
EBC Discs and Greenstuff Pads
Mintex Discs and Pads

I have heard that sometimes OEM discs with a 3rd party pad can also be a good option

Ah, same 240 mm front brakes as my early Chim...

Personally I'd go for plain Brembos as I reckon these to be the best quality aftermarket items and - unlike even OE branded replacement parts which can be sourced from anywhere these days - you know what you're getting. The relevant part would be 09.4914.34 (239.5 x 24 mm; common to a host of Ford Escort/Orion/Sierra models) but please check with your supplier. I don't think however TVR would have used the 20 mm discs (which would be the other possibility)at any point?

For pads, I would splash out on Ferodo DS 2500s; about twice as expensive as standard parts (most of which I think to be inappropriate for a TVR frankly) but they are among the very best fast road pads and have proven to work very well with Brembo discs on a variety of cars. The relevant part number would be FCP206H - again check with your supplier.

they look rather nice.......not up to me though as someone else is taking care of this little job for me.
