Did you really need someone else to tell you that?

You'll be needing help to go to the loo next.

No way unless you carcooned it for 5 years or probably much more. But good value for money short term? probably..

Does 100% nothing changed originality make any difference to the value of a classic ?

Thing is... how much can you change on the car before it's no longer considered original ?

Technically a future classic - but that's really for the design. I don't think it will ever become a true classic (like a Jaguar XK150 for example). It just doesn't have the heritage - and that is the fault of TVR themselves who got bored with things the moment they made them.

Well, it's based on fact - whilst Ferrari etc put their prototypes in museums, TVR cut them up with a chainsaw and denied they ever existed. Latterly they were so up themselves with the millstone S6 they couldn't even mention the massive part the RV8 played. At least PW could run a business, but the last lot were young and foolish, put fantasy ahead of the market and very quickly it all went 'pop'. Dropping V8 engines was a major factor in the death of TVR IMHO.

Some people may not agree and may not like the above, but I firmly believe it's true.

At least the kids have gone and we still have Griffiths to enjoy biggrin

Personally, I wouldn't refrain from changing the original oil and filter even though it detracts from a car's 'originality'. wink

What is the definition of a classic car? There must be a wide variation including age of vehicle, timeless looks etc. I think with the production span of 10 years and with the last ones being made in 2002 prices are still geared to the year of registration. With, I believe, true classics they are old enough such as too make the year of reg. less important but condition and specification are of far more importance. Originallity is a factor for some but not for me. I have several classic cars and have just purchased a Griff.500 I'm not so sure about investment potential as there is clear evidence of the earlier cars still falling in price. As with many classics the prices bottom out and then rise. Some go up in leaps and bounds, geared by fashion, such as the DB 4,5 and 6's which must represent a superb investment to those who purchased prior to the last few years. I bought my Griff. for its superb looks (to me at any rate). Although they may represent good value for the performance they are relatively expensive compared with other TIV's like the Chim and V8S. It looks as if Chims and V8S's have taken a price dive this year. I guess it all about economic conditions and ultimate desirability. Anyway I now want to enjoy Griff. ownership and am not really bothered whether prices go up or down.

At the end of the day, the only reason prices may stay higher than those of Chimaeras is due to the fact they are more rare. This is because they were less popular with the buying public (as is borne out by the sales figures over several years) readit.

The Chim was only popular cos you could chuck your sticks in the back and go and wander round aimlessly hitting a defenceless little white ball!! Oh yeah, and did it win a design award, I think not!!

The Griff is a classic and to prove it mine is in the next issue of Classic and Sportscar and on the front page, should be available around 6th Jan.
