Recently picked up my new toy - a 450 (2000) and already started fiddling around ... improving headlights and replacing (or recore) rad. With the rad out, I came across this rubber pipe, which comes through the inside of the o/s wing, just in front of the expansion bottle and disappeared in front of the rad (but goes nowhere ?).

Something important .. or just a breather for something ?

Apart from cleaning up, anything else worth checking whilst the rad is out ?

Thanks...

PS : still grinning ;o)

That's the breather for the carbon canister. As you say it just vents out under the rad. Its also connected to the engine, and the fuel filler in the boot, still not entirely sure how it all works but the point is the tube you found is supposed to be like that.
As I understand it there's an earth point down there although I've never been able to find it, as it sometimes causes problems whilst the rad is out I would give it a good clean up.
Down in that area give the air filter a clean, won't go amiss either.
Nice colour BTW, see my profile!

Thanks .. Starmist blue :-) Have you found a near-equivalent 'Halfords' spray paint to touch up those places not normally seen (ie. behind the rad) ?
My touch-up pot isn't going to go far .. and as that was £15, I'd rather keep if for those areas that are visible !

any good paint shop/car factors would mix paint up for you in either spray can or touchup pot. Paint code is in the service history/owner manual.

Paint code on the vehicle identification plate under the bonnet. Go to Brown Brothers motor factors as they are one of the few people who can mix the ICI paints so I understand. Not tried to find a near match, mines GTS Viper blue

You would be amazed - Halfords have many of the TVR paint codes listed on their system and can make you up an aerosol or touch up.
I got 100ml of touch up for £7.99. Absolutely perfect match too.
