Got a 118d for a while

Yep! On the little things side the front doors are a little small (5 door), and I'm not that big a guy!! I can get a good position and feel comfy in the car. I'm very happy being low were I feel the car has good visibility despite the narrow rear window, However My wife feels caustrophobic in the car. Reverse Gear needs a shove to get it in But the Box is good, short shifts, bit of notchiness compared to Japanese boxes but it is positive. The steering has good feel but I'm still trying to decide if the feedback is as good. Still trying to decide on the engine. It "surges" well but I think I'd prefer a Petrol. The Pedals are nicely set and I find that for my "heel and toeing" they are very well set. The "Auto" switch off and on feature I am not using. It isn't switched off but because I'm always in gear and On the Clutch when stopped the engine does not get the chance to "cut out". On balance I'd have one but would like to try the Petrol versions.

I am getting a 3dr 118d M -sport in Feb so that will sort the door issue. now for the most boring question ever on PH.
what was the fuel consumption like? mine is gonna be as a company car so is important. I've read the "book" figures and spoken to dealers but it would be good to know from an unbiased source.

That would be sweet but no.
we have fuel cards for the vans but not personal lease cars.
I have to log the miles i use for business use then claim back the mileage @ the set rate. for diesel, the rate this quarter is approx 11p per mile.
If the car is v. uneconomical i will in effect be paying the company money to drive for work. The flip side is if the BM can get close to 60 mpg i'll start to gain money.

If this is any help, i have a friend with a 118d M Sport and he is getting 50mpg give or take. Mostly decent long drives and short town trips, driven quite carefully.
Im gonna keep a close eye on this thread as its whats on my possibility list, although i have a fleet fuel card so it matters a little less.

mine is already ordered so can't escape..... unless I change jobs if this thread is still going will continue on 15/2/08 with progress.
My company quote for BM was only £15 pm more than civic type s 2.2 with similar performance and worse handling IMHO.(lease quote only)

Remember with the fuel card you need to be doing a minimum of 15000 odd miles for it to be financially worth while as the tax for said card would make it not economic below a certain level (of course MPG of the car also comes into play too)Im gonna keep a close eye on this thread as its whats on my possibility list, although i have a fleet fuel card so it matters a little less.

Can I ask if it is a 118d M Sport/SE/ES or just poverty spec? Does it have ports seats & what options are fitted and if you were buying it which are worth while additions and others just a nice to have but ones you wouldnt bother with?
Personally I think the M Sport sets the 1 series off very well and again IMHO sports seats would be a must look great and are very supportive.

MY wife has a 120D Auto which I drive quite a bit. There are a few extras; Keyless entry & start, business sat nav, sports & heated seats, bluetooth, front & rear park sensors etc..
I bought it 2nd hand so didn't pay for all these but given the choice would load the car as much as possible and certainly go for the better sat nav than the business one.
Fuel economy is poor I'd say, I get an indicated 34-35 mpg - I guess the auto gearbox may be using a lot of that though.
Ride is a little harsh IMO but I guess some like that. It's certainly a nice car to drive.
Wouldn't be my first choice but it was available for the right money at the right time.

38MPG so it is climbing. The spec appears to be SE or Sport. Climate control with Dual zone temperature control. "Turning" lights. All electric one shot windows(external closure), auto lights, auto wipers, basic computer, alarm, auto dipping mirror, Headlight washers etc etc. Seats are manual adjustment and cloth but it has more than enough bits. Basically I like it because it feels "right". Wife hates it because compared to the MAZDA 3 she drives it feels pokey.
