TVR Friendly GPS Route Finder / Radar Units

Being a complete numpty in this field and wanting to
do a piece about these on my site, is there a TVR
friendly combined GPS route finder / radar unit on
the market that people could recommend?

There's quite a few PDA + GPS combos with mapping software that will duplicate geodesy/road angel functions. PDA with built in radar detector not yet developed, but no doubt someone will be working on it... in fact not sure if any sat nav has integrated radar detector other than position based.

Origin are supposed to be releasing an "RS232 GPS signal out" bracket for their b2 speed trap detector.
The blurb on the Origin website says all you need to do is then plug a serial cable into a PDA with mapping s/w and hey presto... a cheap sat nav solution.

The b2 can also be linked into the Target LRC100 laser "jammer" (via another cable) to provide an all round fixed camera detector / mobile laser detector/jammer and sat-nav solution.

The Tom Tom Navigator 2 software that was designed for the Pocket PC has the ability to accept software "add-ins".

I believe that there are a few "add-ins" out there for the Software that shows things like speed cameras

Additionally the Road Angel is supposed to have a Serial connector at the back so that you can use it as a GPS and connect it to an PDA with mapping software so that the Road Angel handles the Speed Cameras and the PAD takes care of the routing.

I use a Road Angel linked with an Ipaq PDA and TomTom Navigator 2. It works very well and has voice guidance. If you go off route it automatically recalculates a new route.
I have an Audi, but presume it will also work with a TVR

The problem with all this is that an RA is £400 and iPAQ is also around £400 plus the cables plus the software at £270 (checked on kelkoo). It starts to get pretty pricey unless you already have some of these items.

Having said that all the the satnav systems seem to be pretty expensive.

Edited to say: Oh and if you go to France you might find they take a dislike to your RA and make you drive over it.

TomTom Navigator 2 is only around £130 just for the software. Road Angel around £350. An Ipaq 3970 is around £330 if you shop around. Cables around £20.
So about £850 for the lot. That's cheaper than most peoples Council Tax for a year.

For those interested:
Road Angel - £299 @ Fire Box (Without the Laser Detector)
Tom Tom Navigator 2 - £99 (Ex VAT) @ Total PDA
PDA - In theory any Pocket PC PDA should work. It does not have to be an iPAQ

Thanks for everyone's help.

I have been talking with a specialist shop today who
informed me that the RoadPilot, which already has a
radar add on, will have a GPS Navigation add on
available in the next 12 months.

The total 3 part package is likely to be around £1400.00
