I have lots of old photos but no negatives, is there any way I get them onto a CD..? also I have some posters (my Dads old press cars) that I want on CD as well. Do I have to take a pic first then d/l that to the PC and then photoshop..?

Does any of this make sense..?

PS...I dont have a scanner or access to one.

The answer is in the question really, you need a flatbed scanner. You can get them for around £30 or so, but a £60-70 Epson one would do very nicely indeed.

It depends on the size of the images, under A4 and it's probably worth getting a flatbed scanner as mentioned above, over that the best bet is probably to take them to a copy shop of some kind and get them to scan them and burn them to cd.

Most are old photos, and a couple are A4 posters.

Looks like I am off to buy a scanner.

Thanks guys

I would check the cost of doing them at a decent independent photo lab first. The quality will be better for a start, plus you won't have to faff about for hours yourself.

It really is incredibly tedious with a flatbed. The professional outfits at least have decent feed & automation mechanisms.

If you'd have taken them to boots before christmas then they offered a print from print service and i think that includes prints to cd but...Boots send work like that to a company called top foto which have now gone bust lol. There should be a resumption in these services by feb but who knows. I think top foto carried out work for alot of major high street photo labs soif taking them to be done professionaly is wat you want then you may have to wait a month or 2 first.
