How many E36 325's are there on the road?

I am trying to find out how many E36 325's were original sold in the UK and how many there are left out there. I am specifically interested in all body styles excluding convertibles, with manual transmissions.

I have sent an email to the DVLA and am waiting to hear from them but thought I would also try on here.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

They didnt!

325i became in around 93 the 323i (2.5ltr that had been strangled) and 328i

Then after the 1st couple of years of E46 production these were replaced by a 'proper' 325i and the 330i

The 325 went from 1992 - 1996 with 2.5 M50 engine producing 191 bhp. The 328 then took over with a restricted 2.8 193 bhp M52 engine, a 2.5 170bhp version of the same engine was also introduce in 1998 which they called the 323.

Anyway I managed to get the info I was after from SMMT. For those that are interested there are 4630 BMW E36 325 manuals (excluding convertibles) left on the road.

I currently have a 323i coupe in my possession and was wondering if the strangulation is caused by a restrictor in the AFM pipe?

If it is, please let me know where it is then I can rip it out

From what i understand its caused by the inlet manifold and possibly the exhaust manifold

The manifolds certainly restrict the 328, not to sure about the 323. Try www.E36coupe.com where all you questions will be answered.

Presume they introduced 323i badge on the M52 engined E36 for marketing reasons - to differentiate it from the 325i with the older (M50) 2.5ltr engine.

Changed back to 325i when the E46 had a facelift and chassis tweaks (in '01).

I got the info from the SMMT (Society of Motor Manufactures & Traders).

Could you supply the same fact for 328's - and more importantly 328i Sports?

Are there more M3's than there are 328i Sports?
