considering E39 525iSE tourer "any advise?"

As the header says really. I'm looking at a '01 525i se tourer with manual box it's a 2 owner car
with 92000 miles on it full service history all main agent except for the last one done by an independent.
Very smooth,quiet and smooth cant fault it myself. I ran a '92J 525i e34 for 5 years and had no significant
problems apart from a lampda sensor going and the battery exploding (yes exploding!! that got my attention)
just usual servicing and consumables. it got thrashed for over 70,000 miles (ending up on nearly 190,000)
and at a recent vmax it pulled a genuine 143mph (the makers claimed top speed for the car) so the engine was still fit!!

Has the new M54 engine still got a timing chain like the M50 had in my previous 525?
Can anyone offer any advise as to what might be worth looking out for before I put the money down (btw the garage
wants £5500 for it). It seems a very nice car but I don't want to get caught out with any problems or recuring
faults so any info/tips/stories about this model would be greatly appreciated.
