I had my Chim serviced a couple of weeks ago, but I have noticed that the fans seem to stay on for longer than they are off, even on brisk drives ever since the service.
I didn't think much of it until tonight!
The temp gauge seemed to stay on 90, no matter what speed or how I treated the car, accerleration or otherwise. Again, I thought it may be due to the weather, but driving home, it was quite cool (weather), and, when I did accelerate, a spray of water came gushing out of the front driver's side bonnet, and onto my windscreen!
I got home OK, checked the expansion tank, and it seems fine!!!, but water is certainly coming from somewhere!, It may be by the bleed screw on the radiator, but am not sure.
All I know is that the engine is getting hot, staying at 90 deg, and the fans stay on, and to top it, if I accelerate, I have water sprayed onto the bonnet and windscreen!!
Help!!

Chris
Has anyone had this happen to them, and can anyone shed some light on my prob??

As long as your temperature is not going above 90, I think you are probably OK. I have noticed mine running hotter with the recent hot weather.

The spray of water may be your expansion tank venting, maybe they filled it to the top when it was serviced and it is just blowing off steam as it were. Might be talking complete balls though.

You may be right, I hope so, but I did check the expansion tank again today, and there was still plenty of coolent in there. I know it's been very hot lately, but the temp gauge reaches 90, and don't want to come down, even relaxed cruising on the motorway doesn't affect the temp!
I was accelerating VERY hard when the spray of (presumably) coolant went onto my windscreen and bonnet!, but, the temp never once went over 90, and I was stuck in loads of traffic on the way there and back, driving 2 and a half hours. Was just a shock to see the spray on my windscreen,, I felt like a fighter pilot who was just hit!!! lol
