How's this for daft....

Anyone ever driven up the A41 from the A412 roundabout in North Watford (heading towards the M25 spur at Hunton Bridge)? The road goes from a single carriageway 40 limit, into an underpass which is 50mph. Now, driving the same stretch the OTHER way, it's dual carriageway (ignoring a filter lane) from the J19 spur roundabout, then goes into a 40 limit for the underpass. Same bit of road, but different limits.

How's that justified then? It can't be because it's going into a built up area, because about 50 yards from the A412 roundabout, with a residential side street AND two petrol stations flanking the road, the limit goes BACK UP to 50, and that roundabout, and it's proliferation of ill conceived traffic lights, is a nightmare.

Write a letter to your local council raising the valid points that you have put forward on here to see if they will redress the issue.

They will, of course, recognise the inconsistancy and raise the limit on the other carriageway.

And the pigs are having a test flight in your area soon

Agreed - especially the fact that the "filters" to stop you seeing the lights that don't apply to you aren't very good.. mind you most of the roads around any part of Watford are "ill conceived" !

There is no such thing as an inconsistent limit.
A careful perusal of Roadcraft or the Highway Code or if youis v sad the road traffic act will tell you all the very simple truth.
It is a criminal offence to exceed the speed limit on a given piec of road! end of chat!
But!
I had fun this evening at 140mph on an empty A classified road with no intersections for the next 1.8 miles. it was a single carraigway. NSL 60. ooooops eeeek. Ihad full visability to stop within the visable distance and then some. In honesty I could have done a little more but i felt that fun is fun, tyres are tyres and there many things outside of my control. My car is capable(tried in germany on new tyres- 185 mph)
I only put this post to ellicit response.
If you chose to believe my derring do.
Then chose.
But I do own a TVR Tuscan 4.0l Sport as it says on my V5. Make your own decision.
Answers or arguments welcome.
