I am trying to find out whether or not you can upgrade the Cerbera's alarm so that it will detect movements outside the car as well as inside.

Has anyone tried this? Any recommendations? I live in Bristol.

THanks,

Danny.

That'd keep the local kids amused for ages!

Why on earth would you want to do that? Have you fallen out with your neighbours - or are you just hoping to?

Ask anyone with a Chimaera or Griffith how often they would leave the car alarmed and with the top down. Once is enough for most people. The interior is protected by the alarm, but it doesn't take long for some rubbernecker to set it off. And it doesn't take long for some snot nosed to discover it and spend several hours "accidentally" setting it off. Its amazing how much time kids can spend doing something totally pointless and annoying - its their job.

Thanks Phil, but my car was vandalised last night, some complete t0sser pulled off the cover then proceeds to key to roof of my Cerbie so I think that would warrant me to do an upgrade on the alarm to protect my property from mindless vandalism!!

Save the money, camp out with a pair of pliers and a blow torch.

That should stop them.

B@stards! When are vandals going to realise that bus shelters are fair game, but it is not right to mess with another mans automobile!

A friend of mine has an alarm that shouts at passers-by in a loud voice. Its kind of embarrassing to be near. I don't know what make it is I'm afraid but its fitted to his Tigra

A bit difficult in this weather to camp out...still would like to spend the money for the alarm though, at least that should stop them when they try to pull the cover off at night!!

Any other thoughs on securing our pride and joy??

You have my sympathy, they are vermin. I think I'd cry if someone did that to mine.

Not sure an alarm would help - how long does it take to key a car? I've seen it done by scum on a skateboard without them slowing down. By the time you reacted to the alarm they'd be miles away.

That why insurers like garages I suppose.

Hope the damage wasn't too bad.

Yes if someone do the damage on a skateboard then it would be difficult to catch them...

but (in my case) if someone decided to pull the "locked" cover on the car then proceeded to key it, then an alarm that would go off when the movements of the cover were detected.....I think it would worth the money...

damage is bad, not once they keyyed it, but several times on the roof.......I would shoot them if I see it done to someone else

Remember an 'article' in Performance Bikes mag where loads of bikes were nicked from a car park.

Long and short of it - a few burly blokes sat in a transit van with a particularly nice bike as bait, waited for low life and then proceeded to rearrange his body a little. Apparently problem solved.

Seriously, have you thought about trying to acquire/rent a garage in the locality?

You'd then get complete peace of mind, plus the reduction in insurance premium might help to cover the rent you'd pay.
Worth loooking into.

If I was lucky enought to own a Cerb I'd seriously look at moving house to one with a garage (even if meant a smaller house). No way would I ever leave mine on the road ovrnight, covered or not!

A couple of years ago I rented a Griff 500 from Bespokes and even overnight I couldn't leave it on the road outside our house (this is before we had a garage built in anticipation of TVR ownership!). I drove to my dad's (about eight miles away) and left it in his garage then went and picked it up again the next day. Mind you, the ridiculous excess Bespokes had on my credit card might have had something to so with it!!

TVR owner one day (after Christmas)
