Jacking points
Discussion
Many start jacking on the outriggers, I prefer the main chassis members. It is easier if you have 2 jacks so you can lift without twisting / tilting IMHO. Blocks of wood or rubber ( 2cv tyres cut up make great chassis buffers
) help protect the chassis from the jack saddle
Its quite common to need to drive onto some planks to get a trolley jack underneath to start with. I just extended this and cut a 'slope' into a stack of 8x2 to form a series of ramps. I find it a lot easier to work under the car with the wheels on ramps without the hindrance of jacks & axle stands.

But if you are using a jack or pair of jacks, always use axle stands for safety. Jacks can and do fail.Gassing Station | Chimaera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
