Just put a 1990 GTti back on the road after my mate laid it up 5 years ago.
I started earlier today just looking for an electrical fault (rear wiper) and ended up stripping the rear seats and side panels out to check for corrosion as I know these cars can be prone to a bit of tin worm in these areas. I was pleasantly surprised at how little rust there is:

You've got away lightly there
Get it sorted now to avoid headaches later, and apply a liberal covering of waxoil to the underside and box sections to keep the dreaded tin worm away for good.
Phew, I was hoping ou would pop up and say that to reasure me! Get it sorted now to avoid headaches later, and apply a liberal covering of waxoil to the underside and box sections to keep the dreaded tin worm away for good.
I intend to pop it around to a local body man in the next couple of days for him to have a look as my welding skills aren't up to sorting out that much of a problem.
