Hello all,
I just installed the doors and they fit fine, but they seem to need to be closed hard (read slammed) to really latch properly. Does anyone have any ideas on this? Is this normal or do they need more adjusting? I've adjusted them a lot so I'm not sure there is a lot more adjusting I can do. It is almost like the post needs to be moved an 1/8" or so closer to the outside of the car.
Thanks,
Paul

If, when the door is closed, the panels all align then your problem may be that the seals are new and just need to become compressed and find their new resting place.
If the panels do not align, and the door is further into the recess than it should be, then more adjustment is required. If this were the case then I doubt you would be here asking the question.

The only other place to look for issues is the lip the seal is fitted too.
The build instructions will have told you to check for anywhere where the fibreglass of this lip is too thick and reduce it so that the seal can clip on but does not mention that the lip may be too long.

When the door closes the seal compresses and squeezes out sideways. If the lip is too long the seal will be trying to squeeze out against the door inner skin which will make it difficult to close the door.

Hope that makes sense.

Steve

Steve,
You are THE best asset this forum has!!!! I see you helping out with build questions all the time. Thanks for your help!!

Your answer makes absolute sense. The panels line up perfectly currently closed. I wonder if after the rubber relaxes, it might move out of alignment? I'll report back after a few weeks of closed doors.

Steve has a Direct link to a USB port in the back of his head, he answers question by just thinking of posting. Same technology as fitted to the Russian FireFox Jet.... only problem he has to think in Russian and then the PC translates it back to English....
But unlike Johnny Numonic he has no room left in his brain for any more information as the Factory Build manual has filled it all up......
