plus silver shows off all the lovely scoops/vents etc and contrasts nicely with the smoky-grey colour of the wheels...just imho of course.... thumbup

The forum has a search function. Use it. That will tell you everything you need to know and be interesting reading to boot. What's not to like?

There's a 2004 VXR 5.7 listed on the Network Q website, less than 5000 miles for under 20k. Big boot jobbie and the 5.7 vxr's are the rarest. Mine came from networkQ, happy so far with them

I bought a low-miles 6.0 VXR (1200m then), so I can understand where you are coming from. Be aware that they were all made in 2005 regardless of registration date, even an 07 one. Warranty will run from date registered. A later one will pay the higher road tax, mine's £400 this year. Got mine from www.quickars.co.uk as they are local and decent chaps(and had what I wanted that day).

Most of the ones here seem to have been reliable. Some needed some work under warranty, but not enough to put me off.

Commons mods are exhaust, remap and ripshifter. Then comes brakes and supercharger. Wortec, Greens, Monkfish and Rapid GB all get a mention for tuning work. Monkfish look after mine.

Changing the offside door mirror is worth doing, to eliminate the blindspot. Too bad the mirrors aren't heated... All covered in the www.hsv.org.uk FAQ.

Plenty of info on here if you dig around. Winter's never a great time on motoring forums though.

Hope you find something suitable. Enjoy.

One of the less obvious differences between the models is that the 6.0VXR uses a different version of the Tremec T56 gearbox, with shorter ratios. This plus the more powerful engine somewhat lifts it above the rest. If you get a CV8 then changing the box or diff is one of the most cost effective ways to pep it up. I did the gearbox on my 05 CV8.

Most essential mod for the car.

The FAQ post has a wealth of information about the cars,

Some have water ingress in rear footwell problems, this is a door membrane and is well documented on here. We've had intermittent faults of the passenger door lock and i know some people have had the speedo go mental and start hitting 200mph when doing 10mph etc. All warranty fixes.

Generally there isn't much that goes wrong with them, there has been reports of a few popping bits of engine.

Have a browse around here, there is a wealth of information to be found.

One thing i will say, the dealer backup (excluding a few) is pretty poor to say the least. This however is made up for by some very enthusiastic and professional specialists, the likes of Monkfish and RapidGB spring to mind.

Another downer with dealers is parts prices. Often appear marked up 3 times over US and AU web sites.
