I shoved my bike in the back of the Landy at the weekend only to find the battery was nearly flat and it wouldn't turn the engine over - I should have taken that as a sign, because it still took me nearly two hours to get out on it after I also discovered a puncture, then a loose pedal, then it would only stay in 5th/14th/23rd, and all that after just having it serviced!

So today, despite having the battery plugged into a conditioner since Sunday it barely turned the engine mad
So I jump started it and decided to throw some money at it and look for an Optima Red Top because the Landy doesn't get used much these days and I'm fed up of being disappointed by a flat battery.

The guy didn't have an Optima in stock so I was wandering around the shop chuntering as he's telling me how much a straight replacement for the Proton battery is going to be as the cost of lead has quintupled or something, when I said "I've heard good things about Odyssey batteries, what have you got"

"They're great batteries" said the chap, "but we don't have any".

"Whats that one then" I said, pointing at the one I was looking at on a display stand.

"Oh, forgot about that, it was ordered by some guy who never collected it, you can have it for £90 if you want that"

"Does it have a warranty" - I'm thinking its going to be knackered if it really is such a good battery at that price

"yep, standard 2 years"

I knew nothing more than the name, so I baulked a bit at £90 for a battery, but bought it anyway, talking myself into it really because 'it is still less than the £120 you were prepared to pay for an Optima'

When I got home I looked up what I've bought
