Is it me or have others noticed the boxes cut into the road on the A404 between Wycombe and the M4. These have happened over the past week. They are also next too a newly laid parking space on the grass verge

I noticed last time I went up the A404 that they'd installed some new matrix signs (the big ones that overhang the road) between Marlow and the Handy Cross which were in layby style arrangements cut into the verge. Maybe they're doing the same thing in the other direction?

Think it's something to do with that traffic information matrix system thingy they've been putting all along the M4 - the posts etc. look the same.

The cuts in the road are either side of Bisham round about. Just after the Thames from Wycombe is the obvious one. To me they look like they are doing the ground work for Truvelo!

OK, crawled past the one just after the Thames this morning. There are two sets of sensors planted in the road, linked to a deep green coloured box the size of a boiler with a big long stalk on top (antenna I assume).

To me, this setup looks like another type of traffic flow measuring device. There is no gantry close by to hold a camera or sign of any Truvelo mountings. I think the sensors probably relay info about the traffic flow much like the Trafficmaster system so that the fuzz know what message to put on the gantrys.

Just thought ... maybe the gantrys will say things like "Blue Vectra reg slow down!"
