I'm looking at going skiing in either Banff or Whistler, and was wondering if I should take anything other than the currently fitted clear/UV filter.

Thanks

I'd take a circular polaroser too, lovely deep blue skys and a 2 stop ND in one.

Def a CPL if your taking landscapes - dont use for action shots tho.

Mebe the ND Grad (1 or 2 stops) but likely the mountains will be balanced with the sky.

Remember to dial in 1-2 negative EV to help the meetering.

I'd say +2 as the camera will underexpose like a bastard trying to make the white snow grey. Keep your eye on the histogram and adjust as required.

Yes - it's called the 'you' filter and it's fixed behind the viewfinder wink

There is some good discussion on the subject of shooting in snow here:

http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f...

Further info from that thread, if it's of interest. I couldn't find the armoured backpacks I was hoping for, but found the Lowepro Toploader 65 AW, which is worn on the front, so is protected from harm and will not get in the way of the ski lifts

going to try one out next week
