Standard unleaded v Super/VPower etc

Am I right in thinking that my engine will not suffer any major damage if I filled the odd tank with standard unleaded rather than the normal V Power? I would imagine I might just experience very slight reduced performace?
Planning a trip to the highlands and from what I read, fuel stops are fairly few and far between, and super unleaded is not always available.

My 04 model handbook states

"Tamora speed six 95(RON)octane unleaded.............

for track days 98 (RON) octane super green is recommended"

I would be interested in hearing what everybody else uses though?????

95 octane unless being used hard. 98 with Millers CVL for track use.

Car should be no worse to drive with 95 Octane as that is what the car is mapped for.

I use 98 and CVL as a mild ocatane booster for "insurance" only on track as I am less likely to hear the engine pink with a helmet on.

My old T350T used to pink badly with 95ron in it. I ran her from new exclusively on Optimax, however due to an Optimax shortage I was forced to run her on 95 for a week. I filled up on the sunday and by the wednesday the pinking had got quite bad, so I stopped using it until the Optimax became available again.

Some of the T cars did pink on 95 octane and many were re-chipped under warranty.

Our Sagaris and Tamora (both 4.0L) run fine on 95 for normal and quite spirited road use. Our 3.6L T350 was the same

Not for a couple of years or so at least. The Mini is a revelation and suits my requirements down to the ground at the moment - coupled with changes in my personal circumstances which are a foot I won't be able to commit to the Saggy I want, for at least a year or so.
