Winter driving
Discussion
hi all,
what are your Tiv's, Loti, and other exotica like through winter?
Any interesting tales, or tips on how to survive?
Got a favourite tyre combo that beats the snow??? - I'm still looking for the ideal grippers to deal with rain, ice, AND snow. Seems you can't have a tyre that does the lot...
Keep it "Shiney side up", people!

I thought weights were for Muckycedes and other such crap????
Just had my fun though, was at the local supermarket, a lady with a landy (a real un - 109er) was having problems (we've a ton of snow) so I helped her and parked it in lo-range + 4wd on top of a bulldozed snowpile. Being blonde she'll be driving in lo-range for the next 7 years heh heh heh.................
nasty barsteward.............Hehe, reminds me of my little brother last Christmas. He's got a 1970 Series 2a SWB LR (its a whole lot of car with 18" wheels, raised suspension and a Range Rover gearbox - sorry officer, the speedo said that I was doing 55mph!).
Last Christmas we'd had an inch or so of snow that was soon packed until it resembled an ice-rink. As he's leaving he decides to show off by sticking it in low/4wd and spinning all four wheels. He couldn't, too much grip! Marvellous!

Wow.
Back in '01 we'd only had the Chimaera a year or so. We'd have had no idea how spectacularly crap it was in the snow. Wind forward to summer '10 and despite still having the car when it snows it stays in the garage.
The best winter driving combo for light, rear wheel drive sports cars is a front wheel drive Vectra for the days you don't want to take them out!
