cooling mod

Can anyone tell me how how much it costs to get the extra expansion tank installed for the cooling system on a T350
?

I'm pretty sure this was a factory recall on the newer T350's. I would also be interested in the extra expansion tank.

I had mine fitted at TVR Power. It completely sorted out my poblems and didn't cost a lot. I can't remember the exact cost but it was around the £90 mark for both the mk2 expansion tank & mk2 water tank plus coolant and labour to fit.

Silverstone performance did mine. It mainly consists of an extra expansion tank.
Cost about £100 2.5 - 3 years ago I think plus an hour or so labour for fitting.
Cant remember exactly as I had it done as part of a service and other things to.
It's not a big job though and I have had no trouble since.

When you say mk2 coolant tank are you referring to the golf mk2 coolant tank as I know the golf mk2 header caps fit the T350.

I am interested in doing this and could probably do the work myself.

The mk2 expansion tank is a new aluminium water tank (with the blue Mk2 Golf cap on it) which is mounted on the wing of the car higher up than the top of the original water tank. There is a pipe runnign from the bottom of this expansion tank into the top of the mk2 water tank which has a brass looking cap at the top of it (closing the hole where you would have previously filled up). That is the difference in the water tank - an extra hole for the tube to the expansion tank and the main top hole is sealed.

The parts alone cost me around £90 in total from TVR Power.

That seems extremely good value for the parts , new swirl pot , expansion bottle and pipework . I would buy them now before they realize the error !

My parts may have been discounted due to the amount of work I was having done... not sure though, also can't recall if that was with or without VAT.

It's an areo problem on the T350 that causes overheating and ultimatley engine issues. Basically, the frontal intake is too small and forces air only to the back of the rad. This is why the later Sagaris had fences designed to force air to the front of the rad at relitivley low speed. I was at http://www.surfaceanddesign.com last week picking my car up. They are developing a kit to solve this problem on T350's. It's a similar set-up to the Sagaris and looks great. I can personally say that the standard of their work is second to none, they are the boys that where tasked with preping TVR Motorshow cars and it shows.

I understand that the new cooling tank (I had one fitted to my Tamora) is a bespoke TVR-manufactured part.

I never had cooling problems with the Tam, so I didn't consider the mod essential. However, with the mod the coolant temps are around 10C lower, so it's more a peace of mind thing for me.
