Is this in your own car or in one of their track prepped cars?

If it's in your ro/vxr8 then be prepared to shell out for tyres soon afterwards, as the big v8's can shred a set of rears in no time at all due to the power and weight involved in making it go sideways...

I've done days with drift uk (monaro day last year) and driftacademy. Got the bug I can tell you!!!.
Use there cars so yours doesnt get a bashing!!!.

I want to do more drifting and may try to get a car for it. Pretty cheap to buy an old nissan 200sx, do a few bits then away you go....

who is this drift day with?

The places that have the skid control cars fitted with the hydraulic system are very very good for learning drifting. As the speed is low you don't get overwhelmed by stuff happening. They also can break down the different stages using the skid controls which allows for thing to be repeated over and over whilst slowing building it up so that you're effectively in control.

Agree a 200sx is ideal for learning to drift. An old MX-5 is also pretty good and doubles as a great track learning car.

i just wanted to do it in my own car at almost 2 tonne i cant see the point in using somethin with a small engine and that weighs a lot less so i am looking for a day that you can use your own car?

When I set on up on here some time ago, a lot of people used the school cars to get the basics and then swapped to their own for the later stages to get a feel of what their car will do.

That way, you don't wreck your car whilst learning but you then find out the dynamics of your own car so you know what to do when things start going sideways

I would be very interested in the drift day too. Rather than just "finding out" on a roundabout in the rain!!!

PH member CptSideways set up the previous one for the HSV boys and he said he will look into another session at Silverstone.

Last time out we had 15 people with 2 school cars and 3 trainers...

So, just to get an idea, please add your name to the list... Dates, prices etc will be posted later - Please also indicate if you want to use school car and finally if you prefer a week day (cheaper) or weekend

I am doing this day on 2 February at oulton park.

Cannot take the ro at present, cos its 105 db. In any event I think I am going to take my vx220 instead. the guy on the phone at motorsport vision agreed that the monaro would need a full new set of tyres where the vx220 tyes would fare better.

there are a few videos on you tube if you search google so that should give you an idea.

precisely the sort of event I got two spare wheels with old tyres on to take along to. If you get a chance on Ebay pick up a couple of old wheels and then a visit to the local Kwik Fit etc should get you some balding 18/19" tyres (for a small donation) to use on the drift circuit.
