Hi. I reached a decision last night. Early next year I wil be purchasing an XKR. I already have an XK8, it was my first jag and has persuaded me that the XKR must be worth a look. I will be wanting a pre millenium car for tax purposes, so a '99 or older.
Apart from the obvious addition of the supercharger, what's different to the XK8? I am assuming that the breaks and suspension would be upgraded. Does anyone know for definite? Is the traction control the same? Was a different steering rack fitted?

I will be hoping to pick one up for about £12,000. What do you think - is it feasable to get one for this money without being landed with an absolute pup?

I want to get into some sort of racing (purely recreational), and may use this car as a platform. Does anyone out there have any experience of this sort of thing? I know getting it race ready will cost alot so I don't want to outlay too much on the car - as long as chassis, engine and gearbox are sound.

Cheers!

its certainly possible to pick one up privately for 12,000 but 13,000 prob more realistic for a good one...

Other than the supercharger specification differences are minimal at this age, the main difference was CATS (computer active) suspension which was standard on XKR.
