I've noticed my power steering fluid in the reservoir looks pretty 'dirty' and was thinking about trying to change it.

I dont have any leaks from the rack but was wondering if old or dirty fluid might eventully promote wear in the rack & seals.

Has anyone renewed their PAS fluid? My idea was to disconnect the return low pressure hose at the reservoir and empty the fluid into a container from there by running the engine and moving the rack from lock to lock while the front of the car is up on stands.

Any thoughts on this?

Power steering fluid should always have a translucent red colour to it, it's rare for it to be contaminated, how did you test it as the resevoir dipstick is black anyway?
