ive been lucky enough to have been in the position of looking for an amazing car over the last few months....ive considered lots ..dbs/599/lp640/f40/xj220...not just what car but also the best timing to invest money as the credit crunch etc puts pressure on dealers and we slowly move to a buyers market...but i finally realised that if i truly thought in those terms id end up with no car....because it isnt about money ..its about desire...and so i found myself talking to a very nice man at lamborghini london this afternoon...lp640,black,e-gear/carbon interior/carbon brakes/hercules titanium wheels/transparent engine cover....oh and an ipod connection....it arrives in june. I really did consider other cars and also getting a second hand one from an indie..but in the end id rather have the car as i really want it and with the security of a main dealer(3 yr manufacturers warranty). I read a good article comparing the 599 and lp640 and it concluded both were stunning cars in thier own right but the choice between the 2 really came down to which make you had on your wall as a kid...i had a black muira...next to the poster of debbie harry(which was always hung upside down in the hope her black dress would fall down)...ive been lucky to have seen a few dresses fall down in the last 43yrs...but this is my first lamborghini.

Congratulations top choice!!

I had a Testarossa on my wall as a child, but I would still go for the LP640 smile

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Excellent choice of car (black and more black - coooooooool !) and also teen wall adornment!

I had pictures of a number of what I thought were flash motors (mostly Countach or BB512 pix), some very improbable motorcycles, (twin-engined drag bikes), a large number of equally improbable girls (none of them blonde) and some combining a number of those elements, perhaps even a blonde or two in the distance behind a Lambo or something like a Maserati. I also had a poster of Kate Bush (wot?) and one of the cover of "Never Mind the... here's the Sex Pistols" which my mother didn't want me to have (all but one of the girls with bikes were butt-nekkid but the word 'b*ll*cks was forbidden!)

I replaced the lot, all of them, with one quite reserved black and white picture of a Countach and three very large posters of Joy Division album covers - I am from Manchester after all!

Still, all that's irrelevant really - Debbie Harry is still doing her best to look blonde (she's not really you know!) and black Lamborghinis are the pups danglers - well done, well done!!

Debbie Harry was a hooker. Money well worth spent in my opinion. Sod the investment but well worth the deposit. Congrats on the LP640 got a little side tracked with the DH sort of thing smile

Always had Lambo's on my walls as a kid as a preference.

That said, I used to get Performance Car mag every month and various others, read it, then spend a whole day cutting out every car picture in it and blue-tacking it to my walls - in the end my Mum ripped the wallpaper down and stick cork tiles across the whole of my two main walls, so I could just pin the piccies up and move them about easily.

Congrats on the LP640, you are going to love it smile

Debbie Harry and a Countach (the Countach poster is still on the wall, having now been framed and hung properly rather than just being stuck up with blu-tak).

Quite amazing to think that that particualr poster is about 30 years old now. Blimey!

Debbie Harry for me too. I was so keen on her that when I got to meet her a few years later I couldn't speak.

Cars-wise, my walls were covered in centre-spreads from Custom Car and Street Machine. tongue out

I had a Testarossa on my wall, and while I actually hanker after a 328 more these days I think I still owe it to myself to scratch the Testarossa itch one day.

I had a room like that, except it was all Ferraris... I always said I'd own one, nobody believed me! F40 always took pride of place until the F355 came out.

I only had one car poster and it was an F40, though had some 'drawings' given to me: Bentley Speed Sixes and Alfa 8Cs IIRC.

Ironically my current desktop wallpaper is a Vanquish, a car you previously owned - a photo I took a few years ago, haven't found anything to replace it with. Probably the one car after the F40 my heart desires most, not for any particular rational reason but I honestly think it's the best-looking car ever made.

My favourite F40 photo ever, taken by Mary Harvey at Castle Combe in 1998. These two were going at one another hammer and tongs and the outcome was inevitable ....one ended up totalled, in flames. Apparently the owner went and bought another one the following week.

Now, that is class. bow

I'm not keen on Ferraris but this picture has, on and off, been on my wall / pinboard/ desktop over the years.
