Aston Martin DB4...SWP 92
Discussion
I recently purchased an Aston Martin DB4 series 2, in British Racing Green with Moss green leather. The car has ben stood since 1977 and would appear to be one owner, a Mrs Sybil Pitt from near Bridgnorth Shropshire. Sadly whilst I have the V5 I do not have any other history, documents etc. I would love to find out more, and the buff log book would be the ultimate. I will try to post a photo here, but any help greatly appreciated. I have contacted the Aston Martin Owners Club and they have no additional records although I have managed to get a copy of the build sheet from Aston Service Dorset who own all the early records.
A BT search of Bridgnorth shows loads of Pitt's there. I suggest you do various BT searches at www.bt.com and then phone around. It is probable that someone is a relative.

thats good information Low drag. Did you get that online somehow?
I found from the Heritage certificate that my Jag was sold to a Mr Massey in Essex, so I called all of them! I also wrote to all the previous owners I found info on, including all six on the previous records from the DVLA.Thanks guys. I think Sybil Pitt must have dies quite some time ago. I do have her old address and will post it tomorrow, something Hall. Not sure if she has any offspring. It would be amazing to get some info on this car. I do know she must have been a bit diminutive as the seat runners were blocke up and the gear stick cranked backwards as well as the pedals being spaced towards the driver. I guess a little old lady driving a BRG DB4 around the countryside of Shropshire in 1961 may have left a few memories!

If you go to BT.com you are entitled to 10 free telephone number searches a day. All I did was put in Pitt and Bridgnorht and came up with a few. I accept that the original owner is likely to be dead but just a few random calls to the various Pitts up there might find a relative and then you can go from there. Best of Luck. I've tried for over 20 years to find out who the Mr Sharpe of Soho was who bought my E type new in 1961!Also, send £5 to "Fee paying unit, DVLA, Swansea" and ask for copies of all the previous V5's. If they have them, they will send you copies which will help with the advice. An essential part of the cars history- and will gave you their address'
I have written letters to the previous owners listed here, and got mixed results- as someone else has said will they be alive? Will the residents know where the relatives are?
Also, have you tried the AM Trust?

Another place you can search for info online is www.192.comSome of their stuff is free, some you have to pay for, but they've got more than just the phone directories, they use things like the electoral role and other information that is publicly available.
