What a pleasant suprise (for once)

One of the sidelights went on the KinkyBus this morning, so I acquired a new set of bulbs and was all prepared to spend all of this afternoon fiddling about with the usual millimetres of space to squeeze the old bulb out and new one.

And what a very pleasant suprise to discover that it's a simple case of twist, pull out old bulb, push in new bulb, twist back in.

Job done in about 20 seconds.

Every car I've had in the past 6+ years has been an absolute nightmare to change the bulbs, and I'd assume the E39 would be the same.

It makes it so much easier when they put the engine in the right way round unlike most of the fwd cars.
In fact everything is so much easier, not just changing a bulb.

Blimey, I'm on a right roll!

Topped up my windscreen wash today. Coming home tonight from a family bash and notice that the near side jets don't work, and theres a vague dribble from the off-side side jets.

So naturally was cursing as I'd have to fiddle around in the dark/cold/wet, and was again assuming the worst.

So started tracing the problem, starting with the easy bits - so cleared the jets with a pin - but no change!

Next, get the bonnet up, and check the drivers side jets and all look fine. Checked the passenger side and noticed that the pipe had become disconnected from the jet! Another 10-second job and bobs yer uncle.

Phew!

Is it just me that thinks that nothing is ever simple and always assumes and fears the worst (££&#163 with anything that goes wrong on a car?

The other cool thing about the E39 is the 5 litre screenwash tank.

Could well be, on the touring.

And it is so.

Approx 3.5 litres on the saloon (very bloody "approx", because I can fit a full 5L bottle of ready mixed screen wash in mine)
Approx 6.0 litres on the touring.
