A new Scalextric arrived for my son It took ages to put together and there is a good chance once its down it will not be put together in a hurry, Has anybody put a set onto a backing board like people do with train sets ? If so what method / adhesive was used to do it ?

mdf from your local diy store would work and from what i remember, i think the tracks should have a hole located somewhere taht you can use to nail it down?

Or I guess you could just use the small tacks with a small head and just carefully tap them between the tracks.

I have fancied putting my scalextric on a board for some time but can't decide on a layout! I've got Scalextric Digital that I now rarely use but I may use more if I mounted it ready for use.

I couldn't bear to stick to just one circuit - bought loads of oddly shaped curves over the years to recreate Silverstone, Paul Ricard, Monza etc. Haven't got them out for about 3-4 years though

Ahh I would think the little clippy things is the way to go assuming its OK for all types of tracks, Ive got the Police chase one with the Lambo and Range Rover

Whats it like , I have hundreds of feet of track , some of it dating back 40+ years now and its still fine .

I couldnt ever think of fixing the circuit to a board , but it is a large layout and fills a big room and the landing

My 4 year old asked for our Scalextric to be set up on Saturday morning & proceeded to sped the next 3 hours soundly thrashing my wife & I

Got the Porsche challenge one for chrimbo. The missus said she knew I wanted a Porshce but that she wasn't spending ~£15k on my dream 964. However like some of the others I have lots of track built up over the years. However they have changed the way it attaches together. Haven't investigated whether there is an adaptor. Does anyone know off hand?

Yes! They were brilliant!

I don't think they were as quick as scalextric but being able to switch lanes anywhere (except bends) was fantastic!

Old style track is commonly known as "Classic" and the new stuff is "Sport". Scalextric sell a "Converter Straight" part no. C8222 (pack of 2) which enables sections of classic to be used with sport track - easily available on a popular auction style website near you...

I was also wondering about Scalextric Digital. Have seen a promotional video of it, but it didn't seem that fast compared to normal Scalextric. Is that actually the case or did they just drive slow to make the overtaking easier to perform for the video?

There is one in an old book of track plans I have from C. early ‘70’s I think. Never built it myself but did build one of the ‘old’ Spa.
