Anyone???
The Pirelli Corsa track tyres are the ultimate track day tyre as once up to temperature the grip is 'limpit' type grip, plus example continuous lapping a minimum 10 laps Silverstone Gp, 12 laps Croft, 2 laps of the Ring with no running off whatsoever & all the power down with no issues & safety in the right conditions only. The only downsides is that 4 or 5 hard track days the edges will be shot & they are pricey. The vehicles ive used them on are TVR Tuscan S & Sagaris for the last 5 years. I cant really comment on the other track day tyres as ive always used Corsa's.However, Friends of mine have used all types of track day tyres including the above & they now all use Corsa's...

I ran both sets of these tyres at the last Marham trackday and on my car, a Saab 9000 aero, I was very disappointed with the Corsas, in fact they were terrible....no confidence in grip, they kept letting go and the wear rate was extremely rapid....I will never buy them again. My road toyo TI-R's are miles better and last the 2 days. The kumhos were good but rapid wear meant they didn't last very long. Very noisy also but grip was good however everything was covered in blobs of moulten rubber, probably too soft a compound for my car and track conditions.
Note these are what I found running all tyres back to back and on a big road car running lsd 290hp and lots of torque. They probably are good on other cars as I bought a set on the rave reviews they had received, but they were money down the drain in my circumstances.
Less than 60 minutes use

2 days use, although i swapped tyres over on mid morning of second day to even out the wear, tyres are directional but it was dry and had no effect on grip.

you didn't warm the corsas up properly Mark - that's the only reason why they'd do that - and there's no way on earth the T1-R is a better track tyre than the Corsa!

Look at the wear though, that's horrendous, no wonder he couldn't recommend them.Jonny
What type of warming up would you have to do to stop this, it seems a bit of an extreme price to pay for not warming your tyres up!
More likely cause would be the type of car ie. powerful/heavy front driver? Match tyres to car 1st, it's too general to say 1 type of tyre is better than an other if they're being used on totally different machines.

Tyres are very susceptible to heat cycling - high performance tyres even more so. I managed to delaminate a brand new pair of ACB10's on the back of a caterham in 3 laps of Spa-Francorchamps (about 13miles) because I didn't warm them up properly.I refuse to accept that, in like for like driving in the same conditions, the T1-R is a better tyre than the Corsa. Then again i've got no experience of SAAB's on track so maybe it's some wierd function of the car.
If you put T1-R's on a Noble or 911 or something else that would usually run Corsas - you'd sh!t yourself and be straight back into the pits for the Corsas.

Isn't Marham (sp?) an airfield? If so, ANY track tyre will be killed. I've been through a set of newish P-Zero's at Elvington before now and then started taking a spare set of wheels/tyres instead.
If I was always doing airfields, then I'd put the cheapest, hardest, made in the country furthest away from the UK, tyre I could get my hands on - or some part worns from the local tyre place for a fiver each.
Proper track rubber on an airfield is a waste of money - save them for a track.

Is your Saab a car or a plane? The wear on your tyres after 60 mins is outrageous!Note these are what I found running all tyres back to back and on a big road car running lsd 290hp and lots of torque. What did Pirelli say when you took them back & told them this is what happens after 60 minutes of use?
Surely they would have replaced them with the ones they sell to me & others. Several marques have them on their cars as standard i.e Noble 400's, which is predominantly a track car... Lamborghini's as well! After seeing your photo's i'm sure they won't now though, perhaps.

Ive been told that the kumho's are tarmac rally tyres and will not last long on track....can someone confirm this??
And any more views on these tyres,,,much appreciated!
This is probably true. But you can always contact Kumho Motorsport and find out:And any more views on these tyres,,,much appreciated!

I ran a scoob sti and it ate tyres on track. These guys were good enough to explain how to maximise the life of their tyres. No doubt your evo is a bit better (less understeer) but any heavy car is going to take it's toll on the tyres. Good luck.

This has got nothing to do with Pirelli - can you imaging what they'd say if you took the tyres to their head office to complain that they only lasted 60 minutes of screeching round an airfield - remember there is 270bhp going through the FRONT WHEELS, which are also having to TURN the vehicle. What did Pirelli say when you took them back & told them this is what happens after 60 minutes of use?

Have you never seen a tyre blow out in 2 minutes when some spotty kid has revved the nuts off his Nova in a Macdonald's car park?
If you abuse the tyre as much as that on a track, then 60 minutes is quite good. Proper race drivers might only get 20-40 minutes out of a set of tyres during a race and they're on a smooth track, not a rough airfield.

No, never seen a tyre blow in Macdonalds car park.
